제25회 부산국제영화제(BIFF)가 온.오프라인으로 오는 21~ 30일까지 규모가 축소되었지만 영화를 향한 열정으로 열린다.

영화제는 앞으로 10일간 한국 작품은 오프라인, 해외 작품은 온라인으로 게스트와의 만남(Guest Visit)을 진행한다.

이 기간 동안 선정작 192편 중 140여 편 감독과 배우들이  GV에 참여할 에정이다. 특히, 한국영화의 오늘-파노라마, 한국영화의 오늘–비전, 와이드 앵글 부문 등의 선정작 감독과 배우들이 직접 부산을 찾아 모두 45번의 GV가 열린다.

온라인 GV에 참여하는 거장들의 면면도 화려하다. '미나마타 만다라'의 하라 카즈오, '시티홀'의 프레데릭 와이즈먼, '먼바다까지 헤엄쳐 가기'의 지아장커, '트루 마더스'의 가와세 나오미 등 영화제 현장에 참석하지 못하는 해외 감독들이 온라인을 통해 관객과 만난다.

GV는 작품 상영 전후로 감독, 배우 등 작품 관계자들이 관객과 함께 경계 없는 대화를 나누며 작품에 대한 이해를 돕고, 영화에 관한 심도 있는 이야기를 나누는 시간이다.

BIFF 사무국은 "COVID-19 방역 문제로 인해 GV 진행 시 관객의 질문을 육성으로 받지 않고 오픈 채팅을 통해 문자로 받을 예정"이라며 "상영이 끝난 뒤 극장 스크린에 보이는 QR코드를 찍은 뒤 채팅 란에 질문을 올려주면 사회자가 질문을 대신한다"고 전했다.
 

한편 개막작은 '칠중주: 홍콩 이야기'가 상영된다. 홍금보, 허안화, 담가명, 원화평, 조니 토, 임영동, 서극 등 홍콩의 전설적인 감독 7명이 ‘홍콩’을 주제로 한 옴니버스영화를 만들었다. 조니 토 감독이 프로듀싱을 맡고, 1950년대부터 근 미래까지의 시간을 배경으로 각 감독들이 10여 분 남짓으로 만든 홍콩에 대한 애정 어린 송가 일곱 편을 모아 한 편의 영화로 완성했다.

이 영화는 한평생 영화 만들기에 헌신해 온 7인의 걸출한 감독들이 삶의 동반자였던 ‘홍콩’이라는 공간과 그 역사에 바치는 사랑 고백이다. 이 영화는 칸 2020에 선정되었다.

 
폐막작 '조제, 호랑이 그리고 물고기들'은 일본 다나베 세이코의 단편 소설이 원작이며, 2003년 '이누도 잇신' 감독이 주연 배우 츠마부키 사토시, 이케와키 치즈루, 우에노 주리 등과 함께 만들었던 실사영화다.

GV is a time before and after the screening of a work, where directors, actors, and other related people have a borderless conversation with the audience to help them understand the work, and to share in-depth stories about the movie.

BIFF Secretariat said, "Due to the COVID-19 quarantine problem, we will receive a text message through open chat without receiving questions from the audience during the GV process. After the screening is over, take the QR code shown on the theater screen and ask in the chat field. If you upload the message, the moderator will take the place of the question," he said.
 

On the other hand, the opening film'Seventh Week: The Hong Kong Story' will be screened. Seven legendary Hong Kong directors such as Geumbo Hong, Anhwa Heo, Gaming Dam, Hwapyeong Won, Johnny To, Youngdong Lim, and Seogeuk made an omnibus film with the theme of “Hong Kong”. Director Johnny Toe was in charge of the production, and each director made a collection of seven loving songs about Hong Kong made in about 10 minutes from the 1950s to the near future, and completed it into a single film.

This film is a confession of love to the space called "Hong Kong," which was a life partner of seven outstanding directors who have been devoted to making films throughout their lives. This film was selected for Cannes 2020.

 
The closing film ``José, Tigers and Fishes'' is based on a short story by Seiko Tanabe, Japan, and was made in 2003 by the director ``Isshin Inudo'' with the leading actors Satoshi Tsumabuki, Chizuru Ikewaki, and Juri Ueno.
