[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시와 정부 대표단은 현지시간 7일 오전 10시, BIE 사무국을 방문하여 2030 부산세계박람회 유치계획서를 제출하고, 드미트리 케르켄테즈 BIE 사무총장과의 면담을 진행했다.

 

산업통상자원부 장영진 1차관은 BIE 사무총장과의 면담에서 2030 부산세계박람회 개최계획을 설명하면서, 대한민국과 부산만이 가지고 있는 차별화 포인트와 개최역량을 강조하고 정부와 부산시, 민간, 국회 등으로 구성된 ‘Korea One Team’을 대표해 대한민국의 세계박람회 개최 의지를 전달했다. 

 

정부는 장영진 1차관을 대표로, 김윤일 대통령실 미래정책비서관, 부산시 국제관계대사 등을 파견했다. 부산시에서는 당초 박형준 시장이 산업부 장영진 1차관과 함께 이 자리에 참석하기로 했지만, 역대급 태풍 힌남노 북상에 따른 비상 상황에 신속히 대응하기 위해 출국 직전 서울에서 긴급 복귀했다. 대신 신재현 부산시 국제관계대사가 정부대표단과 유치계획서 제출 등의 일정을 소화했다.

 

정부 대표단은 BIE 회원국을 대상으로 유치교섭활동도 이어나갔다. 파리 현지시간으로 6(화)~7일(수) 양일간 파리에 상주한 BIE 회원국 관계자를 대상으로 오찬 간담회를 개최하고, 2030년 세계박람회 개최지로서의 대한민국 부산의 매력을 설명하면서 2030년 세계박람회 부산 지지를 요청했다.

 

정부대표단은 국제박람회기구(BIE) 회원국을 대상으로 유치교섭활동도 이어나갔다. 7일(수)에는 몽골, 르완다 등 주요 교섭대상 국가의 대사를 별도로 만나 2030년 세계박람회 부산 유치의 당위성을 강조하며, 대한민국 부산에서의 엑스포 개최는 양국의 관계를 더욱 돈독히 하는 계기가 될 뿐만 아니라, 기후 위기 등 세계인이 직면하고 있는 문제를 함께 고민하고 해결책을 찾는 엑스포가 될 것이라고 강조했다.

 

이번에 제출한 유치계획서는 170개 BIE 회원국들이 신청국의 박람회 개최능력과 개최 기본계획을 검토하기 위한 문서로 대한민국이 구상하는 2030 부산세계박람회 개요, 박람회 주.부제, 예상 방문객 수, 회장.교통.숙박, 재원계획, 차별화 포인트 등이 담겨져 있다.

 

앞으로 유치계획서는 170개 BIE 회원국에 전달될 예정이며, 2023년 1/4분기에 있을 개최지 현지실사 자료로 활용된다. 2030 세계박람회 개최지는 2023년 11월경 국제박람회기구(BIE) 회원국 투표를 통해 결정될 예정이다.

오는 11월 3차 PT에 이어, BIE는 내년 3월경 현지실사를 한다. 2023년 6월 4차 PT, 11월에 5차 PT가 이어지고 최종적으로 개최지가 결정될 예정이다.

 

유치계획서에 담고있는 부산세계박람회는 2030년 5월 1일(수) ~ 10월 31일(목)까지 총 184일간, 부산시 북항 일원(343만㎡ - 육역 276만㎡, 수역 67만㎡)에서 '세계의 대전환, 더 나은 미래를 향한 항해(Transforming Our World, Navigating Toward a Better Future)'를 주제로 개최된다.
