An amendment to the “Large-scale Distribution Business Act” was proposed to speed up the collection of funds from small suppliers.

In addition, Democratic Party lawmaker Jeon Jae-soo (Busan Buk.Gangseo-gu A, Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee) said, “In the large-scale distribution industry, which shortens the legal period for large-scale distributors to pay product sales to small vendors within 15 days and general vendors within 30 days. On the 18th, the representative proposed a partial amendment to the Fair Transactions Act.

In the amendment, the deadline for payment of product sales for large retailers is reduced from 40 days to 30 days, and small suppliers are required to pay sales within 15 days of the monthly sales deadline. In the case of direct purchase transactions, the product payment deadline was shortened from 60 days to 50 days. For small suppliers, it was specified that payment should be made within 30 days from the date of receipt of the product.

Current law stipulates that large-scale distributors must pay the purchase price of their products to their suppliers within 40 days of the monthly sales closing date. However, in the case of suppliers with small business scale, difficulties arise in financing due to delays in payment for a considerable period of time after delivery.

It takes up to 70 days from the date of delivery to the due date of payment, so small suppliers are burdened with the cost of borrowing business funds. In addition, due to the small size of the delivery, there are also damages that are disadvantaged in the order of payment.

Rep. Jeon said, "By differentiating the payment deadline according to the size of the supplier, the financial management of small suppliers will be smoother and the economic burden will be alleviated." I hope it can be of some help to suppliers,”
