[브레이크뉴스=김선옥 기자] 2024 아시아프로젝트마켓(Asian Project Market)이  44개국에서 441편의 프로젝트가 출품되어 역대 최다 지원작 수를 기록한 가운데 올해의 선정작 30편을 발표했다.

올해로 27회를 맞는 아시아프로젝트마켓은 출품작 중 17개국 30편의 극영화 프로젝트를 선정 공식 선정했다. 

특히, 정치, 사회, 문화적 다양성이 넘치는 아시아 각국을 배경으로, 장르적 재미와 표현의 자유를 극대화하면서 메시지까지도 충실히 전달하는 다수의 프로젝트가 포진되었다.

다수의 드라마 장르를 기본으로 코미디, 로맨스가 일부 가미됐던 예년에 비해, 올해는 범죄 스릴러, 서스펜스, 호러, 퀴어, 애니메이션 등 다채로운 장르를 선보인다.

선정된 작품은 부산국제영화제가 발굴한 재능 있는 아시아 감독들의 신작 프로젝트를 다수 볼 수 있다. 작년 뉴 커런츠 수상자인 방글라데시 이퀴발 초두리의 두 번째 프로젝트 '다카 극장의 괴물'과 2021년 뉴 커런츠 초청작 '복사기'의 인도네시아 감독, 레가스 바누테자의 신작 '공중부양'이 선정됐다. 

또, CHANEL X BIFF 아시아영화아카데미 졸업생인 프로듀서 아이게림 사티발디와 '선데이'로 세계 유수의 영화제에서 수상한 우즈베키스탄의 쇼키르 콜리코프 감독의 '다리'  등이 선정됐다. 이 밖에도 '토끼굴'의 일랑고 람 감독과 '수몰'의 린 텟 아웅 감독 또한 CHANEL X BIFF 아시아영화아카데미 졸업생이다.

핫독스국제다큐멘터리영화제에서 주목받았던 중국 찬쯔운 감독의 첫 극영화 '아무 일도 일어나지 않았다'. 흥미로운 소재를 다양한 장르로 풀어낸 인도 프로젝트 4편, '해질 무렵' 이후 다시 부산을 찾는 일본 소토야마 분지 감독의 신작 '다시 살기 리스트', 말레이시아 중견 감독 우밍진의 재미 한인 교포의 성장 스토리를 소재 삼은 '캠포드 실험', 칸영화제 등에서 주목받아온 필리핀의 단편영화 감독 돈 요세푸스 라파엘 에블라한 감독의 '훔' 등 신인 감독들의 프로젝트부터 실력 있는 기성 감독들의 신작까지 선정됐다.

한국에서는 참신한 소재와 탄탄한 스토리텔링을 겸비한 작품 7편이 선정됐다. 신수원 감독의 '에트르타 가는 길', 정범 감독의 '문 짝', 손현록 감독의 '새', 신아가 감독의 '저승사관학교', 강동헌 감독의 '울란바토르', 정원희 감독의 '낯선 결혼', 오세연 감독의 '두바이요양병원'으로, 역량 있는 한국 감독들의 신작 프로젝트는 로드무비, 판타지, 액션 누아르, 로맨틱 코미디, 블랙 코미디 등 다양한 장르의 작품이 선정됐다.

매년 선댄스, 베를린, 칸, 베니스 등 전 세계 유수의 국제영화제를 비롯해 투자배급사와 공동제작 파트너들의 지속적인 관심을 모으는 APM 2024 공식 선정작은 오늘 10월 5일(토)부터 10월 8일(화)까지 제19회 아시아콘텐츠&필름마켓 기간 중에 벡스코 제2전시장에서 만나볼 수 있다.
