박형준 부산시장은 13일 파라다이스호텔 부산에서 열린 ‘제100회 부산미래경제포럼’ 특집 행사에서 “부산이 세계적인 도시로 도약하기 위해선 ‘생각의 힘’이 필요하다”며, 디지털 전환 시대에 걸맞은 혁신과 철학적 토대를 강조하며 이같이 밝혔다.

 

박 시장은 인사말에서 “부산미래경제포럼이 어느덧 100회를 맞았다”며, “그동안 함께해주신 모든 분들께 시민을 대표해 깊이 감사드린다”고 전했다. 이어 “생각의 힘이 결국 도시를, 국가를, 그리고 나 자신을 바꾼다”며, AI와 디지털 혁신의 본질은 결국 ‘생각의 전환’에서 출발한다고 강조했다.

 

“AI, 스마트폰, 생성형 AI 기술이 오늘날의 세상을 바꿔놓은 것도 결국은 새로운 생각에서 시작된 것입니다. 생각의 힘이 세상을 위로 끌어올릴 수도, 나락으로 떨어뜨릴 수도 있습니다.”

 

“부산미래경제포럼, 도시 비전의 인큐베이터 역할 해왔다”

박 시장은 부산미래경제포럼이 도시 발전 전략의 토대가 되어 왔음을 강조하며, “이곳을 거쳐 간 수많은 연사와 전문가들이 부산의 새로운 비전을 함께 구상해왔다”고 말했다.

 

특히 그는 포럼에 참여했던 인물들의 실제 변화 사례를 언급했다. ▲최정윤 셰프는 '미식도시 부산'을 위한 글로벌 전략을 제시하고 있으며, ▲싱가포르 난양공대 조남준 교수는 한국해양대와 협력해 부산의 글로컬 캠퍼스 유치에 기여했고, ▲디자인 도시 전략을 제시한 홍익대 나건 교수는 현재 부산시 총괄디자이너로 활동 중이다.

“부산, 질적으로 성장하고 있다”

박 시장은 최근 고용과 경제 지표를 통해 “부산은 분명 좋아지고 있다”고 평가했다.

 

“부산의 고용률은 역대 최고치이며, 상용근로자 수는 최대, 실업률은 전국에서 가장 낮습니다. 특히 제조업 고용이 전국적으로 줄어든 반면, 부산은 15% 가까이 증가했습니다.”

 

또한 부산은 ▲세계 스마트시티 지수 12위(아시아 2위) ▲살기 좋은 도시 아시아 6위 ▲트립어드바이저 선정 ‘도쿄·상하이보다 평판 높은 도시’ 등 글로벌 도시 지표에서도 눈에 띄는 성과를 보이고 있다고 설명했다.

 

“엑스포 유치 실패가 아닌, 도약의 기회로”

2030 세계박람회 유치에는 실패했지만, 박 시장은 그 과정에서 부산의 브랜드 가치와 글로벌 위상이 크게 높아졌다고 평가했다.

박 시장은 이날 강연자로 초청된 조용민 언바운드랩데브 대표에 대해 “AI 시대가 나아갈 방향과 부산이 해야 할 일을 제시해줄 적임자”라고 소개하며 기대감을 드러냈다. 조 대표는 구글, IBM, 삼성전자, 액센츄어 등 글로벌 기업을 거쳐 현재는 AI 스타트업 육성과 투자에 집중하고 있다.
