[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 한일 양국 불교계가 우의와 화합을 다지는 제42차 한일불교문화교류대회가 오는 17~19일까지 금정산에 위치한 대한불교조계종 제14교구본사 범어사에서 열린다.

이번 대회에는 한일 불교 지도자 및 관계자 약 150명이 참석해, 지속가능한 교류 방안을 논의하고 미래지향적 협력 의지를 다질 예정이다.

올해 대회 주제는 ‘한일불교교류 새로운 50년을 준비하며 – 지속가능한 교류 방안’으로, 오는 2027년 한일 불교교류 50주년을 앞두고 그 의미를 되새기며 향후 협력의 청사진을 그리는 자리가 될 전망이다.

특히 양국 불교계는 신도 감소, 고령화, 청년층 이탈 등 공통의 현실적 과제에 직면해 있어, 이번 대회는 이를 극복하기 위한 공동 대응 방안을 모색하는 데 의미를 두고 있다.

한국 측에서는 대한불교조계종 총무원장 진우 스님, 범어사 주지 경선 스님을 비롯한 각 교구본사 주지 및 불교계 원로 스님들이 참석한다. 일본 측에서는 일본불교중앙협의회 회장단, 조동종 총본산 소지지 고산 스님, 진언종 대본산 고야산 금강사 주지 등 주요 종단 지도자들이 방한한다.

On the Korean side, Ven. Jinwoo, the General Director of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, Ven. Gyeongseon, the chief priest of Beomeosa Temple, and other priests from each parish and senior Buddhist monks will attend.  On the Japanese side, the leaders of major religious orders, including the chairman of the Japan Buddhist Central Council, Sojiji Kosan, the head temple of the Soto sect, and the chief priest of Koyasan Kongoji Temple, the head temple of the Shingon sect, will visit Korea.

The Korea-Japan Buddhist Cultural Exchange Conference is expected to be an opportunity to prepare for the next 50 years of Buddhist exchange between Korea and Japan, which has continued for 48 years since the first conference in Seoul in 1977.
