[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산국제어린이청소년영화제(BIKY)가 올해 20회를 맞아 한층 풍성해진 프로그램과 확장된 공간을 통해 관객과의 접점을 대폭 넓힌다.

 

영화제는 오는 7월 8일부터 14일까지 영화의전당을 비롯해 CGV센텀시티, 중구 유라리광장, BNK아트시네마 모퉁이극장에서 개최된다. 7월 15일부터 19일까지는 '웨스트 BIKY'로 사하구청 제2청사 대강당, 다대포해수욕장 1잔디광장, 롯데시네마 부산명지에서 서부산권까지 그 영역을 확장한다.

 

올해 BIKY는 총 44개국 173편의 작품을 상영하며, 이 중 월드 프리미어 41편, 인터내셔널 프리미어 2편, 아시안 프리미어 36편, 코리안 프리미어 29편으로 구성된다. 장편 53편, 단편 120편이 상영될 예정이며, 이는 BIKY 역사상 가장 다채로운 라인업 중 하나로 꼽힌다.

‘2024~2025 한국-캐나다 상호 문화교류의 해’ 기념해 한국과 캐나다를 대표하는 어린이청소년영화제가 교차 참여하는 특별전이 열린다. 지난 3월 몬트리올국제어린이영화제(FIFEM)에서 진행된 <한국 특별전>에서는 14편의 한국 작품이 12회차 상영되며 호평을 받았고, 이에 대한 교류의 일환으로 BIKY에서는 <퀘벡 특별전>이 열린다. 총 12편의 퀘벡 작품이 16회에 걸쳐 상영되며, 개막작도 퀘벡 애니메이션 <우주소녀와 로봇>으로 선정되었다.

특별전 기간 중에는 ‘퀘벡과 어린이’를 주제로 한 포럼이 함께 열리며, 퀘벡 감독들과 영화제 관계자들이 방한해 관객과 직접 교류할 예정이다. 본 프로그램은 문화체육관광부, 한국국제문화교류진흥원(KOFICE), 주한 퀘벡정부대표부의 지원으로 진행된다.

 

-‘20주년 특별전 – 한국 가족 시네마의 현재’

가족의 다양한 형태를 조명하는 이 특별전은 5편의 장편 영화로 구성되었다. 가족의 의미가 변화하는 동시대 한국 사회의 흐름을 반영한 작품들이 포함됐다. 특히 <장손>의 오정민 감독이 직접 관객과의 대화를 진행하며, 출산율·양육·가족 연대 등의 주제를 중심으로 오늘날 가족의 모습을 성찰하는 시간을 제공한다.

 

-퓨처랩 청소년 AI 시네마 특별전

‘AI와 영화, 그리고 청소년’을 주제로 한 퓨처랩 프로젝트의 결과물을 선보이는 특별전도 마련됐다.

워크숍을 통해 청소년들이 AI 기술을 활용해 제작한 7편의 단편 영화가 상영되며, 이를 중심으로 AI와 창작의 미래를 논의하는 포럼이 함께 열린다. 이는 영화제 최초로 AI 기반 콘텐츠의 가능성과 윤리, 창의성을 함께 탐구하는 프로그램으로, 기술이 청소년 영화에 미치는 영향력을 조망한다.

 

-달빛극장 ‘뽀로로 극장전’

야외상영 섹션인 '달빛극장'에서는 <뽀로로 극장전>'이 특별 편성되어 총 9편의 뽀로로 극장용 장편 애니메이션이 무료 상영된다. 이 프로그램은 세대를 아우르는 콘텐츠로, 어른이 된 팬들과 새로운 어린이 관객들이 함께 즐길 수 있는 추억과 현재의 교차점을 만든다. 대한민국을 대표하는 어린이 캐릭터 ‘뽀로로’를 통해 국산 애니메이션의 역사와 감성을 재조명하는 기회가 될 것으로 기대된다.

 

올해 준비된 네 개의 특별전은 BIKY 20주년을 기념해 국제성, 현실성, 기술성, 정서성을 고루 갖춘 프로그램으로 구성됐다. 영화제를 통해 관객은 문화 교류의 과거, 현재 가족의 모습, 그리고 영화의 미래를 향한 상상까지 모두 경험하게 된다.

 

한국 영화 비중 대폭 확대... 경쟁 부문도 신설

올해 가장 눈에 띄는 변화는 한국영화 상영작의 대폭 확대다. 기존 3편 내외에 머물던 한국 장편 영화는 올해 8편으로 증가했으며, 한국 단편 경쟁 부문이 신설되어 20편이 상영된다. 이를 통해 BIKY는 한국 독립영화계의 흐름과 변화하는 가족·청소년 문화를 반영하는 장으로서의 역할을 강화한다.

국경을 넘나드는 어린이·청소년 콘텐츠가 한자리에 모인다.

또한, 한국국제문화교류진흥원, 퀘벡정부대표부, 몬트리올국제어린이영화제의 협력을 통해 퀘벡 어린이청소년영화 특별전이 마련되며, 프랑스 클레르몽페랑국제단편영화제의 지원을 받아 키즈 섹션 15편이 상영된다. 이는 BIKY의 국제적 네트워크와 문화교류의 지평을 넓히는 의미 있는 시도로 평가된다.

 

상영 공간의 확장과 관객 친화 서비스의 진화

올해 영화제는 팬데믹 이전 수준의 활기를 회복했을 뿐만 아니라, 상영관과 상영 시간, 프로그램의 전반적인 확장이 돋보인다. 특히 CGV센텀시티, 사하구청 제2청사 대강당, 롯데시네마 부산명지 등은 BIKY에서 처음으로 활용되는 새로운 공간이다. 이를 통해 상영작의 회차를 늘리고 단편 작품의 재관람 기회를 확대함으로써 더 많은 관객에게 우수한 콘텐츠를 접할 기회를 제공한다.

 

관객과의 소통도 강화된다.

관객과의 대화(GV)는 더욱 다양한 작품과 연계되어 마련되며, ‘BIKY 놀이터’는 전면 개편된다.

 

놀이터는 ▲푸드트럭존 ‘바로 이 맛이야’, ▲공연 공간 ‘꾸미 넘치는 공연’, ▲체험 부스 ‘씽키한 체험’으로 구성된다. 특히 ‘씽키한 체험’은 ‘미래’를 주제로 기술·교육·환경 분야의 창의적 단체 및 기업이 참여해 아이들과 가족 관객에게 다양한 경험을 제공한다.

 

어린이·청소년의 주도적 참여, 진정한 '청소년 영화제' 구현

BIKY는 단순한 ‘어린이 대상 영화제’가 아닌, 어린이청소년이 주체가 되는 영화제라는 점에서 의미가 깊다. 어린이청소년 집행위원회 ‘비키즈(BIKies)’는 예선 심사, 시상식 기획, 부대행사 운영 등 영화제의 실질적 운영에 참여한다. 이는 BIKY만의 고유한 정체성이자, 영화 교육을 실천하는 사례로 주목받고 있다.

 

플랫폼 전면 개편... 관객 중심 서비스 제공
