[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산 해운대구는 해운대해수욕장에 해파리 차단망을 설치하기로 하고, 이르면 오는 8월 9일 이전까지 설치를 완료할 계획이라고 밝혔다. 설치 대상 구간은 해운대해수욕장 1.25km 전 구간이다.

해운대구는 매년 여름철 해수욕장 개장에 맞춰 해파리 차단망을 설치해 왔으나, 올해는 관계 기관과의 협의 지연 등으로 개장 초기 설치가 이뤄지지 않았다. 대신 구는 선박 4척을 동원해 매일 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지 해파리 수거 작업을 진행해 왔다.

구에 따르면, 최근 해양수산부가 해파리 대량 발생 가능성을 알리는 위기경보를 발령하는 등 유해 해파리 확산 우려가 커지면서, 구 차원에서도 차단망 설치 필요성이 커졌다. 이에 따라 구는 어촌계와 지속적인 협의를 진행했고, 최근 어촌계로부터 협조 의사를 이끌어냈다.

협조가 확정되자 구는 긴급히 차단망 설치 사업자와 계약을 체결하고, 곧바로 그물망 제작에 착수했다. 통상적으로 2주 이상 소요되는 제작 기간을 단축해 다음 주 중으로 설치를 완료할 방침이다.

차단망 설치 이후에도 기존의 선박을 이용한 해파리 제거 작업은 병행된다. 특히 이용객이 몰리는 8월 2~3일에는 선박 2대를 추가 투입해 총 6대가 동시 작업에 나선다. 해안으로 밀려오는 해파리는 민간수상구조대가 뜰채를 이용해 직접 수거하며, 실시간 해파리 예찰과 응급 대응 체계도 함께 운영할 계획이다.

해운대구 관계자는 “피서객들이 보다 안전하게 물놀이를 즐길 수 있도록 차단망 설치와 해파리 퇴치, 구조 대응에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Haeundae District in Busan announced plans to install a jellyfish barrier net at Haeundae Beach, with the goal of completing the installation by August 9 at the latest. The net will span the entire 1.25-kilometer stretch of the beach.
