[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 '글로벌 인공지능(AI) 허브도시' 실현을 위한 첫걸음으로 '부산시 인공지능위원회'를 공식 출범하고, 해운·항만·방산 분야의 혁신 성장을 견인할 1조 원 규모의 '웨이브 프로젝트' 추진 계획을 발표했다.

23일 시청에서 열린 출범식에는 산학연 전문가 25명이 참석해 부산의 미래를 위한 인공지능 전략을 논의했다.

부산, 1조 원 규모 '웨이브 프로젝트'로 해양·방산 혁신 이끈다

이번 위원회는 '부산광역시 인공지능 산업 육성 및 도입활용 활성화에 관한 조례'에 근거하여 구성되었으며, 박형준 시장을 위원장으로 하는 25명의 산학연 전문가들이 2년간 활동하며 인공지능 산업 육성 및 도입에 관한 사항을 심의·의결하게 된다.

특히 이날 출범식에서는 부산의 산업적 강점을 극대화하기 위한 '월드클래스 해양 인공지능 허브 부산' 비전과 함께 총사업비 1조 원 규모의 '웨이브(WAVE) 프로젝트' 추진 계획이 발표되었다. '웨이브(World class AI Value for Ocean Economy)' 프로젝트는 북극항로 실현을 위한 해운 분야의 인공지능 대전환(AX), 초격차 인공지능 항만도시 조성, 그리고 해양 패권 강화를 위한 인공지능 기반 방산 산업 육성을 3대 전략으로 삼고 있다. 시는 지난 8월 사업 기획에 착수했으며, 2027년부터 본격적으로 사업을 시행할 예정이다.

위원회 출범과 함께 민·관 협력 거버넌스도 본격 가동된다. 주요 추진 과제로는 특정 분야에 특화된 '버티컬 인공지능' 연구 지원 센터 설립, 인공지능 시티 조성, 매년 150명의 고급 인공지능 인재 양성, 그리고 국제해저케이블 육양국 및 재생에너지 공급 존(RE100 Ready Zone) 조성을 통한 글로벌 빅테크 기업 유치 등이 논의되었다.

이날 함께 열린 '해양 인공지능 정책 포럼'에서는 해양수산부의 부산 이전과 연계한 협력 모델을 중심으로 심도 있는 토론이 이어졌다.

박형준 부산시장은 "이번 출범식을 계기로 인공지능과 해양이 결합된 혁신 모델을 만들어 부·울·경의 공동 성장과 국가균형발전의 새로운 동력으로 발전시켜 나갈 것"이라고 밝혔다.

(Busan) The City of Busan held the launch ceremony for the "Busan AI Committee" at 3 PM on the 23rd in the City Hall conference room. The committee, established based on the "Ordinance on Fostering and Activating the Use of the AI Industry in Busan," will be chaired by Mayor Park Heong-joon and composed of 25 experts from various fields. Their two-year term will focus on deliberating and deciding on matters related to the promotion and implementation of the AI industry.

A key highlight of the event was the announcement of the "WAVE (World class AI Value for Ocean Economy) Project," a 1 trillion KRW initiative designed to maximize Busan's industrial strengths and achieve the vision of "Busan as a World-Class Marine AI Hub." The project has three core strategies: AI transformation (AX) of the shipping industry to realize the Arctic route, building a next-generation AI port city, and fostering an AI-based defense industry to strengthen maritime dominance. The city began planning the project in August and expects to launch it in 2027.

The committee's launch signifies the official start of a public-private governance system. Key tasks to be pursued include: establishing a "Vertical AI" research support center specializing in specific domains, building an AI city, training 150 elite AI professionals annually, and attracting global big tech AI data centers by establishing international submarine cable landing stations and an RE100 Ready Zone for renewable energy supply.

A separate "Marine AI Policy Forum" was held concurrently, featuring in-depth discussions on a cooperative model with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, which is slated to relocate to Busan. Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, "We will use this committee's launch to create an innovative model combining AI and the ocean, strengthening our international status and serving as a new growth engine for the co-development of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, and balanced national development."
