[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 한국과 일본의 청소년들이 오는 15일 일본 도쿄돔에서 열리는 ‘2025 사무라이 재팬시리즈’ 개막식 무대에 함께 오른다. 

청소년·다문화국제봉사단(YMIS, Youth & Multicultural Intl. Service Corps)에 따르면, 일본 전국대회에서 우승한 미토키료고 서예부, 댄스부 고등학생과 부산다문화국제학교 학생이 'KANTO BUSAN UNITYS'(칸토 부산 유니티즈)를 결성, 오는 15일 오후 6시 도쿄돔에서 열리는 사무라이 재팬시리즈 한일전 개막식에서 춤을 추면서 붓글씨를 쓰는 역동적인 퍼포먼스를 펼친다.

미토키료고 초청으로 성사된 국제 무대

이번 공연은 일본 미토키료고의 초청으로 성사됐다. 두 학교는 지난 3월 미토키료고 학생들이 부산다문화국제학교를 방문하면서 인연을 맺었다. 당시 일본 학생들은 ‘우호’라는 글자를 한자, 일본어, 한글로 쓴 서예 작품을 선물하며 양교의 교류를 시작했다.  

한자·한글로 이어진 교류의 의미

임경호 부산다문화국제학교 교장은 “언어는 달라도 붓을 잡는 순간 마음이 통했던 경험이 학생들에게 깊은 인상을 남겼다”며 “다시 함께 무대에 서서 그 우정을 표현하게 돼 뜻깊다”고 말했다. 이 학교는 교사 2명과 학생 5명 등 모두 7명이 행사에 참가한다.

미토키료고 측은 “한일 청소년이 예술로 미래의 우정을 이어가자는 의미를 담았다”며 퍼포먼스를 제안했다. 개막식 무대는 양국 학생들에게 다시 만나는 반가운 자리이자 새로운 교류의 상징이 될 전망이다.  

다문화 대안교육의 현장, 부산다문화국제학교

부산 동구 초량동에 위치한 부산다문화국제학교는 2015년 개교해 다문화·이주가정 자녀, 외국인 가정 학생, 탈북 청소년 등을 위한 대안교육 위탁기관으로 운영되고 있다. 다양한 배경의 청소년이 함께 배우며 문화적 감수성을 키우는 교육 공동체로 자리 잡고 있다.

**Samurai Japan Series opening to feature youth unity performance**

Korean and Japanese high school students will take the stage together on November 15 at Tokyo Dome during the opening ceremony of the 2025 Samurai Japan Series.

According to the Youth & Multicultural International Service Corps (YMIS), students from Busan Multicultural International School will join high school students from Mitokiryo High School’s award-winning calligraphy and dance clubs—both champions of Japan’s national competition—to form “KANTO BUSAN UNITYS.” The group will deliver a dynamic performance combining dance and live calligraphy during the opening ceremony of the Korea-Japan baseball game at the Samurai Japan Series, set for 6 p.m. on November 15 at Tokyo Dome.

The collaboration was made possible through an invitation from Mitokiryo High School. The two schools first built ties in March when students from Mitokiryo’s calligraphy club visited Busan Multicultural International School. During the visit, the Japanese students presented calligraphy works of the word “friendship,” written in Chinese characters, Japanese, and Korean, as a gesture of goodwill.  

Principal Lim Kyung-ho of Busan Multicultural International School said the students “found an unexpected connection through the brush even though they spoke different languages.” He added that the school decided to participate with two teachers and five students to “honor that friendship and express it on a shared stage.”  

According to Mitokiryo High School, the performance symbolizes a commitment to future cooperation and friendship between Korean and Japanese youth. The Tokyo Dome event will serve as both a reunion and an emblem of goodwill for the students.  

Located in Choryang-dong, Dong-gu, Busan Multicultural International School was established in 2015 as an alternative education institution for multicultural and immigrant families. It provides education for middle and high school students from diverse backgrounds, including children of foreign nationals, multicultural families, immigrant households, and North Korean defector youths.
