[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 기후위기 대응을 주제로 대한민국 대표 환경영화제로 성장한 ‘하나뿐인지구영상제’가 기후행동 확산을 위한 협력 체계를 강화한다.

(사)자연의권리찾기(이사장 장제국)와 (재)기후변화센터(이사장 최재철)는 지난 13일 기후위기 공동 대응을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

올해 5회를 맞은 하나뿐인지구영상제는 이번 협약을 계기로 영화제에 전문적인 기후교육과 정책 제언 기능을 접목해 시민 참여형 환경 플랫폼으로 도약할 계획이다.

양 기관은 앞으로 ▲기후·환경 콘텐츠 기반 대중 참여 프로그램 공동 기획 ▲시민 대상 기후위기 교육 운영 ▲기후위기 대응 정책 이슈 발굴 및 제언 등 다양한 분야에서 협력한다.

특히 영상제를 단순 영화 상영 행사에 머무르지 않고, 시민들이 기후위기의 심각성을 공감하고 실질적인 기후행동에 참여할 수 있는 플랫폼으로 발전시킨다는 방침이다.

장제국 자연의권리찾기 이사장은 “한 편의 영화가 사람의 생각을 바꾸고, 그 변화가 세상을 움직이는 힘이 된다고 믿는다”며 “기후변화센터와의 협력이 시민들의 실천적 기후행동으로 이어지는 계기가 되길 기대한다”고 말했다.

최재철 기후변화센터 이사장도 “기후위기 대응은 정책과 기술뿐 아니라 시민의 공감과 참여가 중요하다”며 “문화 콘텐츠를 통해 더 많은 시민이 기후행동에 동참할 수 있도록 협력을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편 자연의권리찾기는 지난 4월 부산시교육청과도 업무협약을 체결하고, 미래세대 대상 기후변화 교육과 학생 참여 프로그램 확대에 나서고 있다.

=Film, education, and policy initiatives to foster public climate action

The One Earth Film Festival, which has emerged as one of Korea’s leading environmental film festivals focused on climate crisis awareness, is strengthening its role as a platform for climate action.

Nature’s Rights Foundation (Chairman Jang Je-guk), organizer of the festival, and the Climate Change Center (Chairman Choi Jai-chul), a climate and environmental think tank, announced that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on May 13 to cooperate on climate crisis response initiatives.

Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, the One Earth Film Festival plans to expand beyond film screenings by incorporating professional climate education and policy discussions into its programs.

Under the agreement, the two organizations will jointly develop public engagement programs based on climate and environmental content, operate educational initiatives to raise awareness of the climate crisis, and identify and propose climate policy agendas.

Through the partnership, the festival aims to evolve into a global environmental platform that encourages citizens not only to understand the severity of the climate crisis, but also to participate in meaningful climate action.

Jang Je-guk, Chairman of Nature’s Rights Foundation, said, “We believe a single film can change a person’s perspective, and that change can ultimately transform society. This partnership with the Climate Change Center will serve as an important turning point in inspiring practical climate action among citizens.”

Choi Jai-chul, Chairman of the Climate Change Center, added, “Responding to the climate crisis requires not only policy and technology, but also public empathy and participation. We will continue working together to encourage more citizens to join climate action efforts through cultural content.”

Meanwhile, Nature’s Rights Foundation also signed an MOU with the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education in April to strengthen climate education programs for future generations and expand student participation in the One Earth Film Festival.
