부산시가 오는 28일 개막하는 세계적 골프대회 ‘LIV Golf Korea 2026’의 성공 개최를 위해 최종 준비상황 점검에 나섰다.

시는 15일 오전 시청 영상회의실에서 김경덕 시장 권한대행 주재로 유관기관 합동 준비상황보고회를 열고 교통, 안전, 환경정비, 보건, 홍보·관광, 출입국, 코스관리 등 7개 분야 전반에 대한 준비 상태를 최종 점검했다.

이번 대회에는 세계 정상급 선수 57명이 출전하며, 약 6만 명의 갤러리가 방문할 것으로 예상된다. 이에 따라 시는 경찰·소방 등 관계기관과 협업해 대회지원본부를 운영하고, 교통 혼잡과 안전사고 예방 등 현장 대응체계를 강화할 계획이다.

대회 운영사인 IMG Media Korea는 안전·경호 인력을 포함해 하루 최대 1천62명의 운영 인력을 투입해 선수단 지원과 관람객 동선 관리, 의료 지원 등을 맡는다.

부산시는 이번 대회를 글로벌 스포츠 이벤트를 넘어 부산의 관광·문화 경쟁력을 세계에 알리는 계기로 활용한다는 방침이다. 대회 기간 해양·미식·관광 콘텐츠와 연계한 도시 홍보를 통해 지역경제 활성화 효과도 기대하고 있다.

김경덕 부산시장 권한대행은 “세계인의 관심이 집중되는 대회인 만큼 빈틈없는 행정 지원과 유관기관 협업으로 안전하고 성공적인 대회를 만들겠다”고 말했다.

Busan City has completed final preparations for the successful hosting of the world-class golf tournament “LIV Golf Korea 2026,” set to open on May 28.

The city held a joint coordination meeting with related agencies on May 15, chaired by Acting Mayor Kim Kyung-deok, to review overall preparations across seven key areas, including transportation, safety, environmental maintenance, healthcare, tourism promotion, immigration, and course management.

The tournament will feature 57 of the world’s top golfers and is expected to attract around 60,000 spectators. In response, Busan has established a dedicated support headquarters in cooperation with police, fire authorities, and related organizations to minimize public inconvenience and strengthen on-site safety measures.

Tournament organizer IMG Media Korea plans to deploy up to 1,062 personnel per day, including security and safety staff, to oversee player support, crowd control, transportation, and medical services.

Busan City also aims to use the event as an opportunity to promote its global city brand by showcasing its tourism, cultural, marine, and culinary attractions to international visitors, while boosting the local economy.

Acting Mayor Kim Kyung-deok said, “As this is a global sporting event attracting worldwide attention, we will focus all administrative capabilities and close inter-agency cooperation on ensuring a safe and successful tournament for both players and spectators.”
