[Here is the English version of the artice] Joint Leader Joaquin Niemann: "Winning is the Result of the Process, Not Impatience… I'm Enjoying a Special Challenge in Busan"

Joaquin Niemann (Torque GC) has surged into a tie for the lead ahead of the final round of LIV Golf Korea, mounting a fierce challenge for his first victory of the season. Niemann highlighted hitting the fairways as the key to tackling the course, expressing strong confidence in the upcoming title race alongside his recently peaking putting form.

On May 30th, after completing the third round of LIV Golf Korea held at the Asiad Country Club in Gijang-gun, Busan, Joaquin Niemann sat at 9-under par in a tie for first place, heightening expectations for the final round.

Below is the Q&A from the post-round press conference.

Q) You enter the final round tied for the lead. What does winning this tournament mean to you?

A) More than anything, I’m really enjoying playing in Korea. The fans’ passionate support has been very impressive, and the course this week is playing much tougher than I expected, which has been a great challenge as a player. I enjoy this kind of environment. It’s exciting to test myself on a difficult course, and in that sense, this tournament feels very special. I’m looking forward to putting together a good performance in the final round.

Q) You mentioned the course is playing more difficult than expected. What aspects have been particularly challenging for players?

A) The biggest factor is the fairways. The course isn’t extremely long, but it’s not easy to place your tee shots exactly where you want. Positioning is much more important than simply hitting it far. On certain holes, you have to use both draw and fade shots, and there are also aggressive lines that require you to carry the ball over trees. In the U.S., we often play longer courses, but this one is shorter and still very strategically demanding. That makes it both interesting and a great challenge for the players.

Q) You made several long putts on the back nine today. How do you remember the birdie putt on the 14th hole?

A) It was a very satisfying putt for me. I had a good feeling right from the moment I made the stroke. There’s a certain feel you get when you hit a putt perfectly, and I could see the ball starting exactly on the intended line. As I watched it roll toward the hole, I felt confident it had a good chance to go in. It’s always a great feeling to make a putt, but it’s even more satisfying when it comes out exactly as you envisioned.

Q) Your putting looked noticeably improved today. What changed?

A) My putting stroke has been quite stable recently. I’ve spent a lot of time working on it and putting in consistent effort. Over the past couple of days, though, I think I was trying to be too perfect with everything—alignment, start line, distance control—and that caused me to lose my natural rhythm. Today, I focused more on my routine and rhythm rather than technical details, and I played more freely and comfortably. I think that approach led to better putting.

Q) You had an outstanding season last year with five wins on LIV Golf, but you haven’t won yet this year. How are you approaching this period of waiting?

A) I believe golf constantly tests your patience. Last year was truly special—I won multiple times and learned a lot competing against the best players in the world every week. But in golf, there are always new challenges. This year, I’m gaining different experiences both on and off the course, and I believe all of it is helping me grow. I’m not getting impatient just because I haven’t won yet. What matters is improving a little every day. I’m enjoying the process of becoming a better player and a better person, and I believe the results will come naturally.

Q) You showed some frustration during yesterday’s round. How did you reflect on that afterward?

A) Yesterday was definitely not a satisfying day. There were moments when I got emotional during the round and felt disappointed in myself. But after returning to my hotel and reflecting calmly, I realized that’s not the version of myself I want to show on the course. There’s something to learn from every experience, and I see that as part of the growth process. It’s important to keep learning and improving every day.

Q) What is your game plan for the final round?

A) Honestly, I’m curious myself to see what kind of situations will come up tomorrow. Golf presents new situations on every hole, and you have to make different decisions accordingly. Rather than sticking to one fixed strategy, it’s important to read each situation and execute the right shot. There will be moments to play aggressively and moments to stay patient. The most important thing is to fully trust the shot you choose. I plan to stay committed, attack the fairways and greens, and do my best.

Q) How has your experience been in Busan and Korea off the course?

A) I’ve been having a great time. I’ve had several dinners with my teammates and tried Korean barbecue a few times. The food has been excellent, and the people have been very kind. I’ve also been going into the ocean every morning, which has really helped with both my conditioning and my mindset. Busan is a beautiful city, and I’m very grateful to the fans and everyone involved for the warm welcome this week.
