[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산진경찰서는 서면 유흥가 일대에서 만취한 취객들을 상대로 금품을 훔치고 카드를 부정 사용한 노숙인 5명을 검거해 전원 구속했다. 

이들은 새벽 시간대 과음으로 길거리에 쓰러져 자거나 술에 취해 물건을 떨뜨린 취객들의 지갑, 휴대폰, 신용카드 등 총 800만 원 상당의 금품을 절취하거나 횡령한 혐의를 받고 있다. 

또한, 이렇게 손에 넣은 카드로 인근 식당과 상점 등에서 주류를 구입하거나 식사를 하는 등 총 113회에 걸쳐 120만 원 상당을 부정사용한 것으로 드러났다.

경찰은 최근 서면 일대에서 도난 및 분실 카드 신고가 잇따라 접수되자, 카드 사용처의 CCTV를 면밀히 분석해 노숙인 인상착의를 한 피의자들을 특정했다. 

이후 이들이 주로 배회하는 서면지하상가와 무료급식소 일대를 중심으로 주·야간 탐문과 잠복수사를 벌인 끝에 피의자 5명을 순차적으로 모두 검거했다.

부산진경찰서는 여름 휴가철을 맞아 번화가 방문객이 급증할 것으로 예상됨에 따라, 만취객과 여행객을 노린 절도 등 민생침해범죄에 대해 강력한 단속을 펼칠 계획이다. 

경찰 관계자는 “심야시간대 과도한 음주로 인사불성이 되거나 길거리에 쓰러질 경우 범죄의 표적이 되기 쉽다”며 주의를 당부하는 한편, “도난이나 분실 피해 발생 시 추가 피해를 막기 위해 즉시 카드사에 분실신고를 하고 112로 신고해달라”고 강조했다.

The Busanjin Police Station has arrested and detained five homeless individuals for stealing valuables from heavily intoxicated partygoers and illegally using their credit cards in the Seomyeon entertainment district. 

The suspects are accused of stealing or pocketing wallets, smartphones, and credit cards worth a total of 8 million KRW from victims who were passed out on the street or had dropped their belongings while drunk during the early morning hours. 

They face further charges for using the stolen cards 113 times to purchase alcohol and meals at nearby restaurants and shops, racking up approximately 1.2 million KRW in unauthorized charges.

Following a wave of reports regarding stolen or lost credit and debit cards around Seomyeon, the police closely analyzed CCTV footage from the venues where the cards were used to identify the suspects, who presented a homeless appearance. 

Detectives then pinpointed the Seomyeon Underground Shopping Center and local free meal centers—areas the suspects frequently loitered around—and conducted around-the-clock inquiries and stakeouts, eventually apprehending all five individuals one by one.

With a projected surge in visitors to major downtown areas like Seomyeon for the peak summer vacation season, the Busanjin Police Station plans to launch proactive and aggressive crackdowns on crimes affecting public livelihood, such as thefts targeting drunk individuals and tourists. 

A police official warned, "Becoming incapacitated or falling asleep on the street due to excessive drinking late at night makes you an easy target for criminals." The official also emphasized, "In the event of theft or loss, please report it immediately to your card company to prevent further unauthorized usage, and contact the police at 112."
