[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 스마트시티를 넘어 인공지능(AI) 기반 미래도시로의 전환을 선보이는 국제행사를 개최한다.

 

부산시는 국토교통부, 과학기술정보통신부와 공동으로 ‘2026 월드 스마트시티 엑스포(World Smart City Expo·WSCE)’를 오는 9월 9일부터 11일까지 사흘간 벡스코에서 개최한다고 밝혔다.

 

올해로 10주년을 맞는 WSCE는 국내외 정부와 도시, 기업, 기관, 전문가들이 한자리에 모여 스마트시티 정책과 첨단기술을 공유하고 도시 간 협력사업을 발굴하는 아시아 최대 규모의 스마트시티 국제행사다.

 

부산시는 지난해 지방자치단체 가운데 처음으로 WSCE를 유치해 개최한 데 이어 올해는 주최기관으로 참여해 국토교통부, 과학기술정보통신부와 함께 행사를 공동 개최한다.

 

특히 지난해에 이어 인공지능과 정보통신기술 분야의 지역 대표 전시회인 ‘K-ICT WEEK’와 공동 개최해 미래산업 분야의 첨단기술을 한자리에서 선보이고 산업 간 융합과 기업의 비즈니스 기회를 확대할 계획이다.

올해 행사의 슬로건은 ‘Beyond Smart City, Into AI City’다. 미래도시의 혁신 기술과 서비스를 소개하는 다양한 전시관과 기업의 판로 개척 및 비즈니스 기회 확대를 위한 프로그램, 산·학·연·관이 참여하는 국제 콘퍼런스 등으로 구성된다.

 

행사장에는 ‘부산 스마트오션관’, ‘K-AI시티’, ‘스마트 빌드&그린 라운지’ 등 3개 특별관을 비롯해 스마트도시부산관, 대한항공·KT·네이버클라우드 등 대기업관, 해외전시관 등이 마련된다.

 

기업 간 교류와 판로 개척을 지원하기 위한 오픈이노베이션, 바이어 상담회, 기업설명회 등 다양한 비즈니스 프로그램도 운영된다. 또한 ‘Urban AI Summit’을 비롯한 국제 콘퍼런스를 통해 AI와 스마트시티의 미래 발전 방향을 논의한다.

 

시민들이 스마트시티와 AI 기술을 보다 쉽고 흥미롭게 접할 수 있도록 유튜브 채널 ‘안될과학’과 카이스트 출신 AI 연구원 허성범이 함께하는 토크콘서트도 마련된다.

 

시는 이번 행사에서 ‘부산 스마트오션관’을 통해 해양·항만도시라는 부산의 특성에 AI, 디지털트윈, 자율운항, 로봇 등 첨단기술을 접목한 차별화된 미래 해양도시 모델을 선보인다.

부산 스마트오션관에서는 북극항로, 스마트항만·물류, 자율운항·해양모빌리티, AI·데이터 기반 도시관리, 디지털트윈, 친환경·스마트 해양산업 등 부산이 추진하고 있는 주요 미래도시 정책과 첨단기술을 소개한다.

 

이를 통해 해양·항만과 첨단기술의 결합이 도시와 산업, 시민의 삶을 어떻게 변화시킬 수 있는지를 보여주고, 부산이 지향하는 미래 해양도시의 모습을 국내외에 알릴 계획이다.

 

WSCE는 누구나 무료로 참관할 수 있다. 참관을 희망하는 경우 9월 7일까지 WSCE 사무국 누리집에서 사전 등록하거나 행사 기간 현장에서 등록하면 된다.

 

전재수 시장은 “이번 행사가 스마트 선도도시 부산의 역량을 국내외에 알리는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “관련 기업에는 새로운 시장과 사업 기회를 발굴하는 기회가 되고, 시민들에게는 스마트시티 기술과 서비스가 미래 도시의 삶을 어떻게 변화시키는지 직접 체감할 수 있는 산업 교류와 홍보의 장이 되기를 기대한다”고 말했다.

Busan will host an international smart city event showcasing the city’s transition from a smart city to an AI-powered city.

 

The Busan Metropolitan Government announced that it will co-host the '2026 World Smart City Expo (WSCE)' with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Science and ICT from September 9 to 11 at BEXCO.

 

Marking its 10th anniversary this year, WSCE is Asia’s largest international smart city event, bringing together governments, cities, companies, institutions, and experts from around the world to share smart city policies and cutting-edge technologies and explore opportunities for international cooperation.

 

Busan hosted WSCE for the first time last year after becoming the first local government in Korea to attract the event. This year, the city will participate as a co-host alongside the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Science and ICT.

 

The expo will once again be held in conjunction with 'K-ICT WEEK', a leading regional exhibition focused on artificial intelligence and information and communications technology. The joint event will showcase advanced technologies in future industries while promoting convergence between different sectors and expanding business opportunities for companies.

 

Under the slogan 'Beyond Smart City, Into AI City', this year’s WSCE will feature exhibitions showcasing innovative technologies and services for future cities, business programs designed to help companies expand their markets, and international conferences bringing together experts from industry, academia, research institutions, and government.

 

The exhibition will include three special zones: 'Busan Smart Ocean', 'K-AI City', and 'Smart Build & Green Lounge', along with the Smart City Busan Pavilion, corporate pavilions featuring major companies such as Korean Air, KT, and Naver Cloud, and international exhibition zones.

 

A range of business programs, including open innovation sessions, buyer meetings, and corporate presentations, will provide opportunities for companies to network, explore new markets, and develop business partnerships. International conferences, including the 'Urban AI Summit', will also examine the future of AI and smart cities.

 

A talk concert featuring the YouTube science channel 'An Unexpected Science' and KAIST-trained AI researcher Heo Seong-beom will also be held to help citizens learn about smart city and AI technologies in an accessible and engaging way.

 

A key highlight will be the 'Busan Smart Ocean Pavilion', where the city will present its vision for a future maritime city by combining Busan’s strengths as a major maritime and port city with advanced technologies such as AI, digital twins, autonomous navigation, and robotics.

 

The pavilion will showcase Busan’s major future-city policies and technologies, including the Arctic shipping route, smart ports and logistics, autonomous navigation and maritime mobility, AI- and data-driven urban management, digital twins, and eco-friendly and smart maritime industries.

 

Through these exhibits, Busan aims to demonstrate how the convergence of maritime and port industries with advanced technologies can transform cities, industries, and citizens’ daily lives, while promoting its vision of a future maritime city to audiences in Korea and abroad.

 

WSCE is open to anyone interested in attending. Visitors can register in advance through the official WSCE website by September 7 or register on site during the event.

 

Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo said, "This event will serve as an opportunity to showcase Busan’s capabilities as a leading smart city to audiences both at home and abroad. I also hope it will help companies discover new markets and business opportunities and provide citizens with a chance to experience firsthand how smart city technologies and services can transform life in future cities."
