[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산국제영화제(BIFF)의 공식 마켓인 아시아콘텐츠&필름마켓(ACFM)이 최고 단계의 국가 파트너십인 '주빈국(Country of Honor)' 프로그램을 새롭게 출범하고, 첫 주빈국으로 태국을 선정했다. 이를 통해 ACFM은 글로벌 투자와 국제공동제작, IP 비즈니스 허브로서의 역할을 한층 강화한다.

태국은 창조문화산업에 대한 정부 지원을 바탕으로 해외 프로덕션 유치와 현금 환급 정책 등을 펼치며 글로벌 콘텐츠 경쟁력을 높이고 있다.

ACFM과 태국은 펜엑 라타나루앙 감독의 '플로이', 아딧야 아사랏 감독의 '원더풀 타운', 콩데이 자투라나사미 감독의 '우리가 있는 곳', 짜끄라완 닌탐롱 감독의 '시간의 세례', 타파니 루스완 감독의 '소는 어디에' 등 주요 프로젝트 발굴과 제작 지원을 통해 오랜 협력 관계를 이어왔다. 이번 주빈국 지정을 통해 태국의 콘텐츠와 기업, 창작자를 ACFM 네트워크 안에서 집중적으로 조명할 예정이다.

행사 관련 인사들의 기대감도 이어졌다. 추키아트 사크위라쿨 태국 영화감독협회 회장은 이번 파트너십이 태국 콘텐츠의 글로벌 진출과 전 세계 영화 산업 간 협력을 강화할 것이라며 감사를 전했다. ACFM 김영덕 위원장 역시 태국의 소프트파워 전략을 세일즈, 투자, 공동제작이라는 구체적인 비즈니스로 연결하는 통로가 되겠다고 밝혔다.

한편, 마켓배지 소지자를 대상으로 한 ACFM 2026 참가등록이 진행 중이며, 등록자는 온라인을 통해 세일즈사 라인업 확인과 마켓스크리닝 등을 이용할 수 있다. 제31회 부산국제영화제가 10월 6일부터 10월 15일까지 열리는 가운데, 제21회 아시아콘텐츠&필름마켓은 10월 10일부터 10월 13일까지 부산 벡스코 제2전시장에서 개최된다.

The Asian Contents and Film Market (ACFM), the official market of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), has launched its highest-level national partnership program, 'Country of Honor,' and named Thailand as its inaugural partner. Through this initiative, ACFM aims to further solidify its role as a global hub for investment, international co-production, and IP business.

Thailand has been steadily expanding its global content competitiveness through strong government backing for its creative cultural industries, international production incentives, and generous cash-rebate programs. ACFM and Thailand share a long-standing history of collaboration, having supported and developed numerous landmark Thai projects including Pen-ek Ratanaruang's 'Ploy,' Aditya Assarat's 'Wonderful Town,' Kongdej Jaturanrasamee's 'Where We Belong,' Jakrawal Nilthamrong's 'Anatomy of Time,' and Thapanee Loosuwan's 'Where Is the Cow.' As the inaugural Country of Honor, Thailand's contents, companies, and creators will be prominently featured across ACFM's business network.

Industry leaders expressed high expectations for the partnership. Chookiat Sakveerakul, President of the Thai Film Directors Association, stated that this collaboration will open new avenues for Thai cinema and reinforce ties with international industry partners. ACFM Director Kim Young-duck noted that the program will serve as a bridge connecting Thailand's soft power strategy directly with concrete business outcomes in sales, investment, and co-production.

Registration for ACFM 2026 is currently open, offering badge holders online access to sales company lineups, market screenings, and select festival titles starting October 6. While the 31st Busan International Film Festival will take place from October 6 to October 15, the 21st Asian Contents and Film Market will run from October 10 to October 13 at BEXCO Exhibition Center 2 in Busan.
