[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시와 가덕도신공항건설공단이 가덕도신공항 건설사업의 차질 없는 추진과 우선시공분의 연내 착공을 위해 협력을 강화한다.

 

전재수 부산시장은 21일 오전 10시 시청 의전실에서 이윤상 가덕도신공항건설공단 이사장을 만나 가덕도신공항 건설사업의 성공적인 추진을 위한 주요 현안을 논의했다.

 

이날 면담에서 전 시장과 이 이사장은 가덕도신공항이 부산을 넘어 남부권의 새로운 성장축을 구축하기 위한 핵심 인프라라는 데 뜻을 같이하고, 사업이 계획대로 추진될 수 있도록 관계 기관 간 긴밀한 협력체계를 유지하기로 했다.

 

가덕도신공항 건설사업은 대우건설컨소시엄이 지난 3월 9일 부지조성공사 기본설계와 우선시공분 실시설계에 착수했으며, 올해 연말 우선시공분 착공을 앞두고 있다.

 

특히 양측은 최근 중동전쟁의 장기화로 유가와 원자재 가격 등이 상승하면서 발생한 공사비 증가분을 사업비에 반영할 수 있는 대책 마련에도 함께 나서기로 했다.

 

현재 6개월째 이어지고 있는 중동전쟁의 영향으로 공사비 부담이 커지면서 사업에 참여하고 있는 지역 건설업체들이 경영상 어려움을 호소하고 있다. 이에 따라 지역 건설업체의 사업 이탈 가능성까지 제기되면서 원활한 사업 추진을 위한 대응책 마련이 요구되고 있다.

 

부산시는 지역 건설업체의 경영 부담을 완화하고 가덕도신공항의 적기 개항을 위해 참여기업들의 의견을 적극 수렴하는 한편, 공사비 상승분을 사업비에 반영할 수 있는 방안을 정부와 국회에 건의하고 해결책을 모색하고 있다.

 

공사비 현실화는 참여기업의 경영 부담을 줄이는 것은 물론 가덕도신공항 건설의 안전성과 품질을 확보하고 당초 계획된 사업 일정을 차질 없이 이행하기 위한 핵심 과제로 보고 관계 기관과 협의를 이어갈 방침이다.

 

부산시는 내년 본공사의 원활한 착공을 위해 각종 인허가 추진 상황도 종합적으로 관리한다. 기관 간 이견을 조정하고 신속한 인허가를 지원할 수 있도록 범정부 차원의 인허가 지원 전담팀(TF) 운영 방안을 국무조정실과 협의하고 있다.

 

전재수 부산시장은 “가덕도신공항은 부산을 넘어 남부권이 대한민국의 새로운 성장엔진으로 자리매김하기 위한 핵심 인프라”라며 “우선시공분이 올해 차질 없이 착공될 수 있도록 관계 기관과 긴밀히 소통하고 협력해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

 

이어 “가덕도신공항의 조속한 건설과 적기 개항을 위해 부산시는 국토교통부, 가덕도신공항건설공단과 한 팀이 돼 주요 현안을 하나씩 풀어나가겠다”고 덧붙였다.

Busan Metropolitan City and the Gadeokdo Airport Construction Corporation are strengthening cooperation to ensure the smooth implementation of the Gadeokdo New Airport project and to begin priority construction by the end of this year.

 

Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo met with Lee Yun-sang, president of the Gadeokdo Airport Construction Corporation, at the city hall reception room at 10 a.m. on August 21 to discuss key issues related to the successful implementation of the airport construction project.

 

During the meeting, Mayor Jeon and President Lee agreed that Gadeokdo New Airport is a key infrastructure project that will help Busan and the broader southeastern region establish a new growth engine for South Korea. They also agreed to strengthen cooperation among relevant agencies to ensure that the project proceeds without delays.

 

The Gadeokdo New Airport construction project is being carried out by a consortium led by Daewoo Engineering & Construction. The consortium began the basic design for the site development work and the detailed design for the priority construction portion on March 9. The priority construction work is scheduled to begin by the end of 2026.

 

The two sides also agreed to work together to develop measures to reflect increased construction costs in the project budget, particularly in response to rising oil and raw material prices resulting from the prolonged conflict in the Middle East.

 

The conflict, which has continued for six months, has significantly increased oil and raw material prices, placing financial pressure on local construction companies participating in the project. Concerns have also been raised that some local companies could withdraw from the project, making measures to ensure its smooth implementation increasingly necessary.

 

Busan City is collecting the opinions of participating companies while working with the central government and the National Assembly to find ways to reflect increased construction costs in the project budget. The city aims to ease the financial burden on local construction companies and ensure the timely opening of Gadeokdo New Airport.

 

The city considers the adjustment of construction costs an important issue not only for easing the financial burden on participating companies but also for ensuring the safety and quality of the airport project and keeping the construction schedule on track. Busan plans to continue close consultations with relevant government agencies.

 

In addition, Busan City is comprehensively managing the progress of permits and approvals to ensure that the main construction phase can begin smoothly next year. The city is also consulting with the Office for Government Policy Coordination on the establishment of a government-wide task force dedicated to supporting the permitting process and resolving differences among relevant agencies.

 

Mayor Jeon Jae-soo said, “Gadeokdo New Airport is a key infrastructure project that will enable the southeastern region, beyond Busan, to establish itself as a new growth engine for South Korea.”

 

“We will maintain close communication and cooperation with relevant agencies to ensure that priority construction begins without delays this year,” he said.

 

He added, “To accelerate the construction of Gadeokdo New Airport and ensure its timely opening, Busan City will work as one team with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Gadeokdo Airport Construction Corporation to resolve the major issues one by one.”
