[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 국립부경대학교가 올해 2학기 41개국에서 온 외국인 신입생 624명을 맞이했다. 이는 한 학기 기준으로 가장 많은 외국인 신입생이 입학한 것으로, 국립부경대의 국제화 역량과 외국인 유학생 유치 성과가 지속적으로 확대되고 있음을 보여준다.

국립부경대학교는 8월 31일 오후 대학극장에서 ‘2026학년도 2학기 외국인 신입생 오리엔테이션’과 ‘자랑스러운 국립부경대학교 외국인 유학생상’ 시상식을 개최했다.

이번 학기 국립부경대에 입학한 외국인 신입생은 중국, 베트남, 대만, 일본, 미얀마 등 41개국 출신 624명이다.

국제교류본부 주관으로 열린 이날 행사는 외국인 신입생을 위한 환영식과 학사 및 유학생 지원제도 안내 등으로 진행됐다.

1부 환영식에서는 배상훈 총장의 환영사를 시작으로 ‘자랑스러운 외국인 유학생상’ 시상식이 열렸다. 이어 대학 홍보영상 상영과 I-Friend 프로그램 소개, 학생 동아리 ‘터’와 ‘네오쇼크’의 문화공연, 단체사진 촬영 등이 진행됐다.

‘자랑스러운 외국인 유학생상’은 지난 학기 우수 유학생으로 선정된 YU YONGHAO 씨(경영학과 박사과정)와 NURWARROHMAN ANDRE SASONGKO 씨(화학과 박사과정)가 수상했다.

이 상은 매 학기 학업 성적이 우수하거나 대학 발전에 기여한 외국인 유학생을 소속 학부 또는 학과의 추천을 받아 선정해 수여하는 상이다.

2부에서는 신입생들이 대학생활에 필요한 실질적인 정보를 얻는 시간이 마련됐다. 수강신청과 휴·복학, 졸업요건 등 과정별 학사제도와 외국인 유학생 지원 프로그램, 비자 및 체류 관련 사항에 대한 안내가 이뤄졌으며, 신입생들은 캠퍼스 투어에도 참여했다.

국립부경대는 외국인 유학생들의 안정적인 대학생활과 학업을 지원하기 위해 다양한 국제화 프로그램을 운영하고 있다.

한편 국립부경대에는 올해 4월 기준 학사·석사·박사과정과 석·박사통합과정, 교환학생, 연수과정, 복수학위과정 등에 63개국 1,707명의 외국인 유학생이 재학하고 있다.

=Students from 41 Countries Join the University; Two Outstanding International Students Receive Presidential Awards

Pukyong National University (PKNU) welcomed 624 international freshmen from 41 countries for the fall semester, marking the largest number of international freshmen admitted in a single semester in the university’s history.

PKNU held an orientation for new international students and an awards ceremony for the “Pukyong National University Outstanding International Student Award” on August 31 at the university auditorium.

The 624 international freshmen admitted for the 2026 fall semester come from countries including China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan and Myanmar, among 41 countries in total.

Organized by the Office of International Affairs, the event began with a welcoming ceremony and continued with information sessions on academic programs and university life.

The first part of the event featured a welcome address by President Bae Sang-hoon, followed by the presentation of the Outstanding International Student Awards. The program also included a university promotional video, an introduction to the I-Friend program, cultural performances by student clubs Teo and NeoShock, and a group photo.

This semester’s Outstanding International Student Awards went to YU YONGHAO, a doctoral student in Business Administration, and NURWARROHMAN ANDRE SASONGKO, a doctoral student in Chemistry.

The award is presented each semester to international students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement or made significant contributions to the university. Recipients are selected based on recommendations from their respective departments or academic units.

The second part of the orientation provided practical information to help new students adjust to university life. Students received guidance on course registration, leave of absence and reinstatement, graduation requirements, international student support programs, and visa and residency matters. They also took part in a campus tour.

PKNU continues to expand its support programs and services to help international students successfully adapt to campus life and pursue their studies in Korea.

As of April 2026, PKNU had 1,707 international students from 63 countries enrolled in undergraduate, master’s, doctoral and integrated master’s-doctoral programs, as well as exchange, training and dual-degree programs.
