[Here is the English version of the article] Busan Film Commission to Expand Global Partnerships and Co-Productions at ACFM

The Busan Film Commission is stepping up efforts to turn the energy surrounding the Busan International Film Festival into concrete business and networking opportunities for the global film industry. From Oct. 10-13, the commission will take part in the 2026 Asian Contents & Film Market, or ACFM, at BEXCO in Busan, hosting industry programs focused on international co-production, business partnerships and global networking.

The Busan Film Commission will operate a joint booth, No. D6-D9, with the Asian Film Commissions Network, the Asian Film Academy in Busan and the Busan Visual Industry Center. The booth will provide information on film and video production in Busan and across Asia while offering opportunities for filmmakers and industry professionals to connect and develop business partnerships.

One of the main programs will be the fourth annual “A+B Project: Asia Meets Busan,” a business-matching program designed to connect Asian film projects with filmmakers and industry professionals from Busan and South Korea and promote international co-productions.

Three feature-film projects from Thailand, Vietnam and Bangladesh will participate this year, seeking potential production and business partners during the market.

The program has already produced tangible results. A project that participated in the 2024 edition was developed into “Goodbye 1987,” a Korean-Taiwanese period drama that began airing in Taiwan in August, providing an example of how the program can lead to actual international co-production.

The Busan Film Commission and partner organizations will also host two forums addressing major issues facing the global film industry. Industry experts from Korea and abroad will discuss topics including film locations, storytelling and changes in the distribution and content markets, while exploring ways to strengthen international cooperation in a rapidly changing industry landscape.

Three memorandums of understanding are also scheduled to be signed during the market. The Busan Film Commission will sign an agreement with the Mongolian National Film Commission, while the Asian Film Commissions Network will partner with the Location Managers Guild International. The Asian Film Academy in Busan will also sign an agreement with the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

A series of networking and industry events will complement the main programs, including “FLY PLUS, FLY Reunion Networking Happy Hour” and the “2026 BFC Story IP Contest Awards and BFC × O’PEN Story Co-Creation Project Preview.”

The Asian Film Academy in Busan, which trains emerging producers from across Asia, will also showcase the results of its international film-business education program.

Seventeen feature-film projects developed by participants from 12 Asian countries will be presented for the first time at the “AFiS Project Pitching” session at 10 a.m. Oct. 12 in Event Room A at ACFM. The participants will pitch their projects directly to international film industry professionals and explore opportunities for investment, production and international co-production.

Later that day, at 1:30 p.m., AFiS will host “AFiS × NAPNet Talk: Film Festival Strategies and Beyond & Producing a Directorial Debut” at the Busan Film Commission’s joint booth. Producers from NAPNet, an AFiS alumni network representing 173 members from 28 countries, will share their experiences and strategies for developing a first feature film and taking it to international film festivals.

The Busan Film Commission said its participation in ACFM will help strengthen ties between Busan and the broader Asian film industry while creating more opportunities for international co-production and business networking.

The commission aims to build on these efforts and establish Busan as a global hub connecting the Asian film and video industries through business, collaboration and creative exchange.
