[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 배우 임시완이 제31회 부산국제영화제 폐막식 사회자로 선정됐다. 임시완은 오는 10월 15일 영화의전당 일대에서 열리는 폐막식에서 경쟁부문 수상작을 선정하는 ‘부산 어워드’ 시상식 진행을 맡는다.

부산국제영화제는 오는 10월 6일부터 15일까지 열흘간 영화의전당 일대에서 제31회 영화제를 개최한다. 폐막식에서는 지난해 신설된 경쟁부문의 수상작을 발표하고 시상하는 부산 어워드가 진행된다.

임시완은 2012년 드라마 ‘해를 품은 달’을 통해 배우로 데뷔한 뒤 영화와 드라마, 온라인동영상서비스(OTT) 작품을 오가며 활동해왔다.

2013년 영화 ‘변호인’으로 스크린에 데뷔했으며, 2014년 드라마 ‘미생’에서 사회초년생 장그래 역을 맡아 주목받았다. 이후 영화 ‘불한당: 나쁜 놈들의 세상’, 드라마 ‘런 온’과 ‘소년시대’, 영화 ‘스마트폰을 떨어뜨렸을 뿐인데’ 등에 출연하며 다양한 장르의 작품에서 연기력을 선보였다.

최근에는 ‘오징어 게임’ 시즌2와 시즌3에 출연하며 해외에서도 인지도를 높였으며, 2025년 영화 ‘사마귀’ 등으로 활동 영역을 넓혔다.

임시완은 청룡영화상 인기스타상, 백상예술대상 TV부문 남자신인연기상, 부일영화상 남우조연상, 대한민국 대중문화예술상 문화체육관광부장관 표창, 청룡시리즈어워즈 남우주연상 등을 수상했다.

부산국제영화제 측은 안정적인 진행 능력과 다양한 작품을 통해 쌓아온 연기 경험을 바탕으로 임시완이 영화제 폐막식과 부산 어워드의 의미를 잘 전달할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

Actor Im Si-wan has been selected as the host of the closing ceremony of the 31st Busan International Film Festival, which will be held from Oct. 6 to 15 at the Busan Cinema Center and surrounding venues.

Im Si-wan will host the closing ceremony on Oct. 15, including the Busan Awards, which recognize outstanding films from the festival’s competition section.

The Busan International Film Festival will run for 10 days beginning Oct. 6. The closing ceremony will mark the end of the festival and include the presentation of awards for the competition section, which was introduced last year.

Im Si-wan began his acting career in 2012 with the television drama “The Moon Embracing the Sun.” He made his film debut in “The Attorney” in 2013 and gained widespread recognition for his performance as Jang Geu-rae, a young office worker, in the 2014 drama “Misaeng.”

He has since appeared in a range of films, television dramas and streaming series, including “The Merciless,” “Run On,” “Boyhood” and “Unlocked.”

More recently, Im appeared in the second and third seasons of the global hit series “Squid Game,” further expanding his international profile. He also starred in the 2025 film “Mantis,” continuing to work across different genres.

Im has received several major industry honors, including the Popular Star Award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, the Best New Actor Award at the Baeksang Arts Awards, the Best Supporting Actor Award at the Buil Film Awards and the Best Actor Award at the Blue Dragon Series Awards.

Festival organizers said Im’s experience across a wide range of productions and his ability to deliver steady performances made him a suitable choice to host the closing ceremony and the Busan Awards.
