Suzy’s Photoshoot: “I Didn’t Understand Why People Saw ‘First Love’ in My Face”

Gracing the Cover of Elle Magazine’s October Issue

Singer and actress Suzy has shown off her unreal, goddess-like beauty in a new pictorial.

Suzy graced the cover of the October issue of the fashion magazine *Elle*. The photoshoot captures scenes that feel as though her most comfortable, private space has been transported onto the set.

On the 14th, *Elle* stated, “Dressed in the Celine Winter 2026 collection, Suzy displayed a diverse range of expressions, moving freely between natural, everyday moments and dramatic, spotlighted poses.”

In the interview following the shoot, Suzy discussed the possibilities she has discovered in her own face while portraying a variety of women—from Yang Seo-yeon in *Architecture 101* and Lee Yu-mi in *Anna* to Lee Doona in *Doona!* and Gi Ga-young in *All Your Wishes Will Come True*.

Suzy said, “In the past, I didn’t understand why people associated my face with the image of a ‘first love.’ Then I heard that because my face is plain and unassuming, it’s well-suited for projecting the emotions found in movies; that made me realize I could hold various characters within my own face.” She added, “As time passes, there are moments when I discover expressions or facets of my face I hadn’t known before. It brings me great joy, and it makes me feel that there are still sides of myself waiting to be discovered.”

Regarding her approach to characters as an actress, she explained, “Now, rather than just looking at the character in isolation, I think more about the relationships they have with the people around them and the environment they’ve lived in.” She continued, “Even if it isn’t explicitly in the script, I imagine the experiences the character has gone through and create my own backstory and reasons for their actions.”

Suzy also likened the characters she has portrayed to various "rooms" within her heart. "I’ve always thought of my heart as having multiple rooms," she said with a smile. "While I feel both affection and a sense of lingering attachment toward every character I’ve played, I’m someone who values the present, so I think I’ve kept those rooms neatly closed. Right now, the only room wide open is the one for the project I’m currently filming, *Men of the Harem*."

She also shared her anticipation for upcoming projects. Regarding the film *Breakfast Meeting at 7 for the Heartbroken*—which premiered at last year’s Busan International Film Festival and is awaiting general release—she remarked, "I was drawn to it because it explores how we can often be more honest with strangers who share a similar kind of sorrow."

Speaking about another upcoming project, *Hypnosis* (working title), she said, "The mysterious atmosphere in Director Han Jae-rim’s script and the backstory of the female character really resonated with me." She added, "I feel like a wide range of facets came through on screen while playing Song Jeong-hwa. It wasn’t an easy process, but it was just as enjoyable, and I learned a great deal."

Finally, when asked about her criteria for choosing future projects, Suzy replied, "Honestly, I still don’t really know what those criteria are. I simply want to play characters and work on projects that speak to me in the moment. Ultimately, I think I place a lot of trust in that next 'pull'—that instinctual attraction."

Suzy’s pictorial and interview can be found in the October issue of *Elle*, as well as on the *Elle* website and social media channels. Digital content will also be released sequentially via *Elle*’s social media and YouTube channels.
