19일, 김승원 법무부장관 후보자가 사퇴했다.

그의 사퇴와 관련, 장동혁 국민의힘 당 대표는 “말이 사퇴지, ‘사퇴당한 것’”이라고 평했다.

이날 페이스북에 게재한 글을 통해 “이재명 대통령, 기자회견으로 판을 바꾸고 김승원 임명을 강행하려 했을 것이다. 민주당은 기자회견 하루 전날 청문보고서 채택까지 밀어붙였다. 대통령도 ‘최종 결정 못 내렸다’면서 국민의 간을 봤다.

이어 “이재명 정권, 하나하나 무너져 간다. 민심을 거역한 정권의 말로”라고 비판했다.

Regarding his resignation, Jang Dong-hyuk, leader of the People Power Party, remarked, "It may be called a resignation, but in reality, he was 'forced out'."

In a Facebook post that day, Jang pointed out, "President Lee Jae-myung likely intended to turn the tide with a press conference and push ahead with Kim Seung-won's appointment.

The Democratic Party had even railroaded the adoption of the confirmation hearing report the day before the press conference. The President, too, had been testing public sentiment, claiming he hadn't made a 'final decision' yet.

However, the outcome of the press conference was disastrous; it only further ruined the situation. They were driven into a corner where dropping Kim Seung-won became unavoidable.
