[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시의회 해양·신공항 발전 특별위원회가 해양수산부 이전과 북극항로 거점도시 조성, 가덕도신공항 건설 등 부산의 주요 성장사업 추진 상황을 점검하고 해양과 공항 인프라를 연계한 미래 성장 전략 마련에 나섰다.

특별위원회는 21일 부산시의회 운영위원회 회의실에서 제2차 회의를 열고 향후 활동 방향을 담은 운영계획을 채택한 뒤 부산시 해양농수산국과 신공항추진본부로부터 관련 사업에 대한 업무보고를 받았다.

해양·신공항 발전 특별위원회는 해양과 신공항 분야의 주요 현안을 종합적으로 살펴보고 부산의 미래 성장 기반을 마련하기 위해 지난 7월 구성됐다. 위원장에는 채창섭 의원이 선임됐으며 모두 9명의 의원이 참여하고 있다.

이날 회의에서 위원들은 해양수산부와 해양 관련 공공기관 및 해운기업의 이전, 북극항로 거점도시 조성, 가덕도신공항 건설과 공항복합도시 개발 등 주요 사업의 추진 상황을 살폈다.

특히 개별 사업을 별도로 추진하는 데 그치지 않고 해양산업과 항만·물류, 신공항 인프라를 유기적으로 연결해 지역 산업과 경제 활성화로 이어질 수 있도록 사업 간 연계 방안을 마련해야 한다는 데 의견을 모았다.

채창섭 위원장은 해양수산부 이전과 북극항로, 가덕도신공항 건설이 부산의 미래 성장과 직결된 주요 사업인 만큼 추진 상황을 면밀히 점검하고 서로 연계할 수 있는 방안을 마련하는 것이 중요하다고 밝혔다.

이어 해양과 신공항 분야의 주요 사업이 부산의 산업 및 경제 활성화로 이어질 수 있도록 사업 간 연계와 구체적인 발전 방안을 찾는 데 힘쓰겠다고 말했다.

BUSAN — A Busan City Council special committee is reviewing the relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, development of an Arctic shipping route hub and construction of Gadeokdo New Airport as part of efforts to link major maritime and airport projects and strengthen the city’s future growth prospects.

The Maritime and New Airport Development Special Committee held its second meeting Monday at the city council and adopted an operational plan while receiving briefings from Busan government officials on major maritime and airport-related projects.

The committee was established in July to comprehensively review key issues in the maritime and new airport sectors and explore ways to strengthen the foundations for Busan’s future growth. Nine city council members were appointed to the committee, chaired by Councilor Chae Chang-seop.

During the meeting, members reviewed plans to relocate the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, along with maritime-related public institutions and shipping companies, as well as plans to establish Busan as a hub for Arctic shipping routes.

They also examined progress on the construction of Gadeokdo New Airport and the development of an airport-linked city.

Committee members called for greater coordination among the projects, saying maritime industries, ports, logistics infrastructure and the new airport should be developed in ways that create broader economic and industrial opportunities for Busan.

Chae said the relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the development of an Arctic shipping hub and construction of Gadeokdo New Airport are closely tied to Busan’s future growth.

He said the committee would closely monitor the progress of each project and work to develop ways to connect them so that major maritime and airport initiatives can contribute to regional industrial and economic growth.
