[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산 사하구 북형제도 인근 해상에서 낚시하던 40대 남성이 고무보트의 공기가 빠지고 엔진이 고장 나 표류하다 해경에 구조됐다.

부산해양경찰서에 따르면 24일 오전 11시 9분께 북형제도 남동쪽 약 1km 해상에서 혼자 고무보트를 타고 낚시하던 A씨(45)가 보트에 문제가 생겨 표류하고 있다며 신고했다.

신고를 받은 부산해경은 다대파출소 연안구조정을 현장에 출동시키고 군 부대인 다대TOD와 감시장비 정보를 공유해 오전 11시 21분께 A씨의 위치를 확인했다.

A씨는 당시 구명조끼를 착용하고 있었으며 건강에는 이상이 없었다.

해경은 A씨의 동의를 받아 연안구조정으로 고무보트를 확보한 뒤, 현장에 도착한 해양재난구조대 선박에 보트를 인계했다. 이후 A씨와 보트가 다대항에 안전하게 입항할 때까지 안전 관리를 실시했다.

부산해경 관계자는 “고무보트는 공기 누출이나 엔진 고장 등 작은 문제에도 조류와 바람의 영향을 받아 빠르게 표류할 수 있다”며 “출항 전 장비 상태를 꼼꼼히 확인하고 만일의 사고에 대비해 반드시 구명조끼를 착용하는 등 안전수칙을 지켜달라”고 당부했다.

A 45-year-old man fishing alone in a rubber boat was rescued Thursday after the boat lost air and its engine failed off the coast of Busan, the Busan Coast Guard said.

The man, identified only by his surname initial as A, reported at about 11:09 a.m. that his boat was drifting about 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) southeast of Buk Hyeongje Island in Saha-gu, Busan.

The coast guard dispatched a patrol rescue boat from its Dadaepo station and worked with a nearby military unit, Dadae TOD, to locate the man. His position was confirmed at about 11:21 a.m.

The man was wearing a life jacket and was in good health when rescuers reached him.

After obtaining his consent to tow the boat, coast guard personnel secured the rubber boat and handed it over to a vessel operated by the Maritime Disaster Rescue Team. The coast guard then escorted the boat and the man safely to Dadaepo Port.

A coast guard official urged boaters to check their equipment before going out to sea and to wear life jackets in case of an emergency.

“Rubber boats can quickly drift with currents and wind even when a minor problem, such as an air leak or engine failure, occurs,” the official said.
