[Here is the English version of the article] Busan to Become One Giant Festival Venue Throughout October

Busan will turn into one large festival venue throughout October, with 22 events spanning music and culture, film and the arts, and business and innovation taking place across the city.

The Busan Metropolitan Government and the Busan Tourism Organization said the 2026 Festival Siwol will run from Oct. 1 through 31.

Festival Siwol is an integrated festival project designed to bring together the cultural, tourism and MICE events held throughout Busan in October under a single brand. The initiative aims to encourage domestic and international visitors to attend multiple events and extend their stays in the city.

22 events across three themes

This year’s festival, under the slogan “When You Go to Busan in October,” will feature 22 events across three themes: music and culture, film and the arts, and business and innovation.

Major events include the Busan International Rock Festival, the Busan International Film Festival and FLY ASIA, an international startup and business expo. A wide range of performances, cultural and artistic programs, food events, festivals and industry events will be linked as tourism content, turning various parts of the city into festival venues.

Festival information hub at Busan Eurasia Platform

A Festival Siwol information hub will operate at Busan Eurasia Platform from Oct. 1 through 18.

The hub will provide visitors with information on participating events and schedules, while offering interactive programs and promotional activities designed to encourage participation in individual events.

A stamp tour linking major festival venues will also be held, encouraging visitors to explore event sites across the city. Participants can collect stamps by scanning QR codes at participating venues and receive rewards and prizes based on the number of stamps collected.

Expanded online promotion and travel platform partnerships

The city will also strengthen integrated online promotion through the Visit Busan tourism portal and social media channels. Event schedules, themed content and short-form videos will be regularly featured to promote Busan as a destination throughout October.

The city and the tourism organization will also work with major online travel agencies to carry out targeted marketing campaigns aimed at attracting visitors from South Korea and abroad.

Ahead of the festival, Busan also conducted promotional activities for visitors from the Seoul metropolitan area at Busan Super in Seoul’s Insadong district.

Programs to strengthen cooperation among event organizers

Programs aimed at strengthening cooperation and connections among participating events will also be held.

A familiarization tour featuring Busan’s cultural and tourism attractions will be held Oct. 5-6 for 20 key event officials. On Oct. 5, a networking reception will bring together event organizers and tourism and MICE industry representatives to promote exchanges and establish a foundation for continued cooperation.

The city hopes to encourage visitors attending individual events to explore other programs and experience a broader range of Busan’s cultural and tourism offerings, ultimately helping extend visitor stays and boost local tourism.

Na Yoon-bin, head of Busan’s Tourism Content Industry Bureau, said October offers visitors an opportunity to experience a wide range of music, culture, film, art, business and innovation in one city.

“We will work to connect visitors attending individual events with Festival Siwol and encourage them to experience more of Busan’s diverse attractions,” Na said. “We hope this will lead to longer stays and help revitalize tourism across the city.”

Detailed schedules and participation information are available through the Festival Siwol section of the Visit Busan tourism portal.
