[Below is the English version with the Korean source] Gwangalli Beach Named One of South Korea’s Outstanding Beaches for 2026
Gwangalli Beach in Busan’s Suyeong-gu district has been named one of the country’s outstanding beaches for 2026, alongside Gyeongpo Beach in Gangneung and Daecheon Beach in Boryeong, following an annual assessment by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
The ministry’s evaluation covered a range of criteria, including improvements in beach safety management, facilities and services for people with disabilities and other socially vulnerable groups, and efforts to make beaches more accessible and attractive throughout the year.
Gwangalli Beach received positive assessments for strengthened safety measures, improved accessibility and its diverse lineup of marine tourism and entertainment programs.
Compared with last year, Suyeong-gu added more lifeguard towers and safety personnel at the beach. It also installed and operates designated paths and road decks designed to improve access to the sandy beach for people with disabilities.
The beach was also recognized for its year-round attractions, including regular laser and drone shows and stand-up paddleboarding, or SUP, programs.
Local governments whose beaches are selected as outstanding beaches receive a ministerial award from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries along with prize money of 1 million won ($700).
Suyeong-gu Mayor Kang Seong-tae said the recognition reflected the district’s efforts to make Gwangalli Beach a destination offering attractions throughout the year.
“We want to continue giving visitors memorable experiences through a variety of attractions, including our regular drone-and-laser shows,” Kang said. <저작권자 ⓒ 부산브레이크뉴스 무단전재 및 재배포 금지>
