부산시는 12일 오전 후쿠시마 방사능 오염수 해양방류 저지와 공동 대응방안 마련을 위한 1차 실무협의회를 개최했다.

이날 시청 18층 회의실에서 열린 실무협의회에는 울산, 경남, 전남, 제주 등 한일해협에 접해있는 시.도 담당과장이 참석했다.

부산을 포함한 이들 5개 시.도는 ▲후쿠시마 방사능 오염수 해양방류 대응을 위한 공동 실무협의체를 구성하고 ▲정례회의를 통해 협력과제를 발굴하는 등 공동으로 대응해 나갈 방침이다.

또 이날 오후에는 '주한 일본대사관'의 아난 케이이치 제1등서기관과 스즈키 마사토 주부산 일본총영사관 부총영사가 부산시청을 방문해 후쿠시마 오염수 방출에 관한 일본의 입장을 설명했다.

이에 대해 시는 국민 전체가 크게 우려하는 상황에도 불구하고, 오염수 처리 방침에 일본정부가 기존 입장을 고수하는 데 대하여 강하게 실망과 유감을 표했다.

시는 지난달 27일 열린 ‘한일해협연안 8개 시.도.현 지사 화상회의’에서 부산, 경남, 제주, 전남 시.도지사와 함께 일본 후쿠시마 방사능 오염수 방류에 대한 우려를 전한 바 있다.

시의회에서도 지난달 23일, 일본정부의 후쿠시마 오염수 방류 결정 규탄 및 중단 촉구 결의문을 채택하여 정부에 건의하는 등 시민의 건강과 안전을 지키기 위해 힘을 모으고 있다.

변성완 시장 권한대행은 “방사능 오염수 해양방류는 지자체 간 연대가 필요한 문제”라며 “특히 시민의 건강과 안전에 직결되는 문제이므로 단호하고 강력하게 대응해 나갈 것”이라고 말했다.
