[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 박형준 부산시장은 21일 "'우리 부산이 정말 해낼수 있겠다'라는 확신을 갖게 됐다"라며 2030부산세계박람회 유치에 대해 자신감을 나타냈다.

 

박 시장은 이날 기자간담회를 열고 "이번 두바이 출장은 세계 이목이 집중된 두바이 엑스포 현장 에서, 2030세계박람회가 열릴 최적지는 부산이라는 사실을 전세계인들에게 각인시켰다"며 "이미 엑스포를 개최한 도시들의 유치전략과 성공 개최 전략을 부산의 저력으로 흡수하기 위한 일정이었다"라고 출장 결과를 설명하며 이같이 말했다.

 

박 시장은 지난 14~20일까지 5박 7일간 일정으로 2030세계박람회 부산 유치와 글로벌 기업의 투자 및 유치를 위해 2020두바이세계박람회가 열리는 아랍에미리트 두바이와 세계박람회기구(BIE) 사무국이 있는 프랑스 파리를 다녀왔다.

 

박 시장은 ▲엑스포 유치를 위한 명확한 전략 구상 ▲부산의 날씨 및 인프라, K-POP 등의 강점과 대륙별 네트워킹 강화 ▲일본 오사카 엑스포 유치 경험 활용을 위해 한일관계 해결 및 민간의 역활 ▲ 퐁피두 부설 부산 미술센타 설치 등에 대해 설명했다.

 

박 시장은 "코로나 19 팬데믹 상황이라 '엑스포가 두바이 입장에서 큰 낭패를 보지 않았나'라는 느낌을 갖고 갔다"면서 "두바이 경제가 굉장히 어려웠었는데, 이번 엑스포 개최를 계기로 두바이 경제가 다시 살아나고 있음 확연히 느낄 수 있었다"고 말했다. 이어 "두바이가 세계적인 도시로 새롭게 완전히 거의 완성이 됐다"며 "이 도시국가 전체가 큰 변모를 하고, 또 미래 비전을 담대하게 구현을 하고 있음을 느겼다"고 말했다.

박 시장은 일본 오사카엑스포 유치에 민간이 주도한 사례를 언급하며, "중앙 정부에서도 집중적으로 지원을 했지만, 민간의 네트워크를 충분히 활용을 하는 것이 대단히 중요하다"면서 "우리 대기업들이 적극적으로 참여할 수 있는 공간을 열고, 구체적인 자기 네트워크을 가지고 최종적인 의사결정권을 가지는 쪽에  접촉을 하고, 설득해 지지를 끌어내야 한다"고 말했다.

 

그러면서 "그런 과정에서 일본.앙골라 등  많은 경험을 가진 전문가들 도움을 우리가 전 세계적으로 받을 필요가 있다"며 "국제적인 네트워크를  부산 차원에서 각 나라의 엑스포 전문가들을 새롭게 네트워킹 작업을 시작할 것이고, 특히 일본이 유치했던 경험들이 많은 도움이 될 것 같아, 앞으로 한일 관계를 원만하게 해결하는 것도 굉장히 중요하다"고 강조했다.

 

이어 "일본에서 배울점은 엑스포 개최지 보팅(투표.voting) 시점에 VIP급 60명이 파리 현지에 가서 득표 활동을 했고, 그전에도 대표단이 각 나라별로 대표를 선정해 순방도 하고, 쌓았던 좋은 관계를  활용한 사례를 참고해야 한다"고 말했다.

 

박 시장은 "전체적으로 느낀 느낌은 정말 부산이 한번 해볼 만하다"면서 "부산이 상당히 강자다라고 하는 인식들을 깔고 있었다. 두바이에서도 확인을 하고, 프랑스 파리에 가서도  얘기를 들었다"고 밝혔다.

 

박 시장은 "부산이 얼마나 다른 도시들보다 우월한 장점을 선보일 수 있는가 하는 것"이라며 "엑스포 개최 6개월 동안 날씨, 도시 인프라와 수 백명이 파견되는 공간 등을 비교해 볼때 부산은 장점이 있고, 결코 뒤질 것이 없다."라고 거듭 강조했다.
