[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] (사)세계평화여성연합은 17일 호국보훈의 달을 맞아 순국선열의 혼이 깃들어 있는 전국 주요 도시의 충혼탑 인근 176개 지역에서 환경정화 봉사활동을 전개했다.   

전국동시 행사에 앞서 세계평화여성연합 문훈숙 회장은 “숭고한 희생정신을 이어받아 선한 영향력 확산과 지역 여성지도자와 함께 사회 공헌 운동을 지속적으로 실천하여 사랑을 전하자!”라고 당부했다.  

세계평화여성연합은 지난해 6월에도 전국 지부에서 호국보훈의 달을 기념하여 147개 지역 1천여 명의 회원과 함께 봉사활동을 펼쳤다. 다가오는 11월에는 환경문제의 심각성을 인식하고 변화를 촉구하기 위해 ‘줍깅’ 환경 봉사활동을 진행할 예정이다.

이번 환경정화봉사활동은 부산광역시 지부를 비롯해 세계평화여성연합 회원들이 전국 176개 지역에서 동시에 진행하며, 1,800여 명의 회원이 함께 참여했다.

부산시 지부는 이날 민주공원의 환경정화 활동 후 충혼탑에 모여 헌화와 묵념을 통해 순국선열과 호국영령의 희생과 공헌에 대한 감사의 마음을 전했다.
