[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] '부산유엔위크(UN Weeks in Busan)'가 오는 24일부터 11월 11일까지 부산 일대에서  개최된다.

 

‘부산유엔위크’는 세계 유일의 유엔기념공원 소재지인 부산이 국제평화도시로 발돋움하고자 2019년부터 시작한 행사로, 매년 개최되는 부산의 대표적인 글로벌 행사 중 하나다.

 

부산유엔위크는 세계 공통의 국제기념일인 유엔의 날(24일)을 시작으로 유엔참전용사 국제추모의 날(11월 11일, 턴 투워드 부산)까지 약 3주 동안 유엔 관련 다양한 행사를 개최함으로써 세계평화 중심도시 부산을 이미지 브랜딩하는 행사다.

 

올해로 5회차를 맞이하는 '부산유엔위크'는 '글로벌 허브도시 부산 도약'이라는 비전 아래, '사전붐업기간', '감사주간(10.24.~10.31.)', '추모주간(11.1.~11.11.)'으로 나눠 21개의 다양한 프로그램이 진행된다.

 

유엔미(美) 오륙도 남구투어, 유엔피스로드(UN Peace Road) 걷기대회, 아세안참전국 소개, 한국전쟁 영웅들의 이야기 등 각 기관의 강점을 살린 부산만의 특색 있는 시민참여형 프로그램을 확대 운영하고, 세계평화에 대한 중요성과 공감대 확산에 힘쓸 예정이다.

 

지난 2월부터 이어진 '사전붐업기간'에는 ▲남구 유엔평화특구 참전국 국기거리 조성 ▲평화를 주제로 한·일·중 3개국 어린이의 미술작품을 전시한 미술 전람회(아트페어) ▲제26회 유엔평화축제 등 평화의 중요성과 가치를 널리 전파하고 유엔위크를 홍보하기 위한 다양한 행사가 진행됐다.

 

특히, 지난 7월 외교부와 시가 내·외국인으로 선발·구성한 국민외교 서포터즈인 ‘유엔즈(UNs)’는 다양한 홍보영상을 기획·제작했다.

 

9월부터는 참전용사의 이름을 호명하며 추모의 뜻을 새기는 ‘리멤버 롤콜’ 이벤트 등 국제적으로 유엔위크를 널리 알리기 위한 활동이 진행됐다.

 

이어지는 '감사주간'에는 ▲제79주년 유엔의 날 기념식을 시작으로 ▲평화의 빛 점등 ▲한국전쟁 영웅들의 이야기 시즌3 등이 개최되어 한국전에 참전해 자유 수호에 헌신한 참전용사에 감사의 뜻을 표한다.

 

특히, 모바일 기반의 체험형 미션 프로그램인 참전용사들의 희생과 용기 등 역사적인 이야기가 담긴 ‘한국전쟁 영웅들의 이야기<시즌3>’는 오는 11월 10일까지 매주 주말 유엔기념공원에서 시민 1천 명을 대상으로 무료로 진행된다.

 

평화를 위해 목숨을 바친 전몰용사들의 희생정신을 기리는 '추모주간'에는 ▲세계평화포럼(11.1.) ▲유엔피스로드(UN PEACE ROAD) 걷기대회(11.3.) ▲유엔참전용사 국제추모식 '턴 투워드 부산(Turn Toward Busan)' 등이 마련돼 있으며, '추모주간'을 끝으로 약 3주간 이어진 부산유엔위크는 마무리된다.

 

올해 주목할 만한 행사 중 하나는 11월 1일에 누리마루 에이펙(APEC) 하우스에서 개최되는 ‘부산 세계평화포럼’이다. 전쟁과 분쟁이 계속되며 긴장이 높아지고 있는 세계적(글로벌) 정세를 반영해 ‘전쟁 없는 세상 : 세계평화와 협력을 위한 전략’을 주제로 글로벌 언론인과 비정부기구(NGO) 직원의 특별 대담이 진행돼 평화의 중요성에 대한 메시지를 부산시민에게 생생하게 들려줄 예정이다.
