수감 중인 윤석열 대통령이 24일 변호인을 통해 구정 연휴 명절에 앞서 옥중 설 인사를 전했다.

윤 대통령 변호인 측이 이날 공개한 편지에서 윤 대통령은 "설 명절이 다가왔습니다. 을사년 새해는 작년보다 나은 한해가 되시길 바랍니다"라고 했다.

그러면서 "설날이 다가오니 국민 여러분 생각이 많이 납니다"라며 "여러분 곁을 지키며 살피고 도와드려야 하는데 그러지 못해 안타깝고 죄송하다"고 했다.

또 "아무쪼록 주변의 어려운 분들 함께 챙기시면서 모두가 따뜻하고 행복한 명절 보내시길 기원합니다"라고 맺었다.

현재 경기 의왕시 서울구치소에 수감 중인 윤 대통령은 서신 발신까지 제한된 상태여서 이날 공개된 편지는 윤 대통령 자필이 아닌 구술을 통해 변호인이 전한 것이다. 

윤 대통령 변호인 측은 "서신 발신까지 제한된 상태"라며 윤 대통령은 국민 건강·행복한 명절을 기원했다고 전했다.
