[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 기장군(군수 정종복)은 13일 동남권원자력의학원(기장군 장안읍 소재) 내 ‘심뇌혈관센터’가 문을 열고 본격적인 진료 체계 가동에 들어갔다고 밝혔다.

이로써 지역 주민들은 심뇌혈관질환 발생 시 골든타임을 확보할 수 있는 전문 응급치료를 보다 신속하게 받을 수 있게 됐다.

이날 열린 개소식에는 정종복 기장군수를 비롯해 정동만 국회의원, 박홍복 기장군의회 의장, 이승우 부산시의원, 이소라 부산시 시민건강국장 등 주요 인사들이 참석해 센터 개소를 축하하고 그 의미를 함께 나눴다.

동남권원자력의학원 병원동 3층에 마련된 심뇌혈관센터는 심장질환과 뇌혈관질환 등 생명을 위협하는 중증 질환에 대한 응급치료와 전문 시술을 전담하는 전용시설로 구축됐다. 최첨단 응급 시술 장비와 전문 의료진이 상주하며 지역 주민의 생명을 지키는 응급치료 거점병원으로서의 역할을 수행할 예정이다.

통계청 ‘2023년 사망원인 통계’에 따르면 심뇌혈관질환은 전체 사망원인의 16.3%를 차지할 정도로 치명적이다. 특히 부산지역의 심장질환 사망률은 인구 10만 명당 35.5명으로 전국 평균(26.1명)을 크게 웃돌고 있다. 노인 인구 비율이 높은 기장군은 기존 권역별 심뇌혈관센터 접근성이 낮아 응급환자 골든타임 확보에 어려움이 컸던 만큼 이번 센터 개소의 의미가 더욱 크다.

기장군은 이러한 지역 의료 현실을 개선하기 위해 지난해 부산시, (사)서생면주민협의회, 동남권원자력의학원과 4자 간 ‘심뇌혈관센터 구축을 위한 상생협약’을 체결하고 긴밀한 협력과 적극적인 지원을 통해 이번 개소를 이끌어냈다.

심뇌혈관센터는 응급치료뿐 아니라 예방 중심의 프로그램 개발과 조기 재활을 연계하는 통합 시스템도 구축해 심뇌혈관질환 사망률과 후유증을 낮추는 데 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

정종복 기장군수는 “동남권원자력의학원 심뇌혈관센터는 군민 한 분 한 분의 소중한 생명과 직결되는 의료 접근성을 획기적으로 개선하고, 지역 간 의료 불균형 해소에 중추적 역할을 할 것”이라며 “앞으로도 군민의 건강권 보장을 위해 지속적으로 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.

Gijang-gun Opens Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center at Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences — A New Hub for Emergency Treatment of Critical Conditions

Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) announced on the 13th that the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center within the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (located in Jangan-eup, Gijang-gun) has officially opened and begun operations.

With this, local residents will now have timely access to specialized emergency care, helping to secure the critical “golden hour” in cases of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

The opening ceremony was attended by Gijang Governor Jeong Jong-bok, National Assembly Member Jeong Dong-man, Gijang County Council Chair Park Hong-bok, Busan City Council Member Lee Seung-woo, and Lee So-ra, Director-General of Busan’s Citizen Health Bureau. They celebrated the launch of the center and shared in the significance of this milestone.

Located on the third floor of the hospital wing, the center is equipped to provide emergency treatment and specialized procedures for life-threatening conditions such as heart disease and cerebrovascular disorders. With advanced emergency equipment and a team of expert medical staff, the facility is expected to serve as a key emergency treatment hub for the region.

According to the 2023 Statistics on Causes of Death by Statistics Korea, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases account for 16.3% of all deaths nationwide, highlighting their deadly impact.

In Busan, the mortality rate from heart disease is 35.5 per 100,000 people — significantly higher than the national average of 26.1. Gijang-gun, where the elderly population is relatively high, has long struggled with limited access to regional cardiovascular and cerebrovascular centers, making it difficult to secure golden hour care for emergency patients.

To address these challenges, Gijang-gun last year signed a four-party cooperation agreement with Busan Metropolitan City, the Seosaeng-myeon Residents Council, and the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences. Through close collaboration and active support, the partners have successfully brought this center to fruition.

The center aims not only to provide emergency procedures but also to reduce mortality and complications through integrated systems that link prevention programs with early rehabilitation.

Governor Jeong Jong-bok stated, “The Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center at Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences is expected to dramatically improve medical accessibility for our residents and play a central role in addressing regional disparities in healthcare.
