[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 30일 경성대학교 및 부산외국어대학교와 각각 열린 ‘글로컬대학 비전 및 혁신전략 보고회’를 통해 지역과 대학의 상생 발전 전략을 점검하고, 부산을 세계적인 교육·산업 거점으로 이끌 비전을 공유하는 등 '글로컬대학’ 본 지정을 위한 총력전에 나섰다. 

시는 이날 오전 부산시티호텔 컨벤션홀에서 경성대학교, 부산외국어대학교와 함께 교육부의 최종 지정 심사를 앞두고 대학별 전략을 점검하고, 시-대학 간 공동 추진체계와 협력을 공고히 하기 위해 ‘이번 보고회'를 개최했다. 

이날 보고회에는 박형준 시장을 비롯해 양 대학 총장, 산업계, 지역 혁신기관 관계자 등이 참석해 글로컬대학 추진을 위한 비전과 전략과제를 공유하고 논의했다. 아울러, 부산시와 두 대학은 포괄적 업무협약(MOU)을 체결해 협력 기반을 견고히 했다.

올해 부산에서는 ▲국립한국해양대학교(목포해양대와 통합) ▲경성대학교 ▲부산외국어대학교 등 3개 대학이 글로컬대학 예비 지정 대학으로 선정됐으며, 이들은 8월 11일까지 최종 실행계획서를 교육부에 제출해야 한다.

경성대학교는 ‘K-컬처 글로벌 혁신 선도대학’을 비전으로 내세워, ▲MEGA(Media, Movie, Entertainment, Gala/MICE, Arts) 중심 초실감 융합캠퍼스 구축 ▲MEGA 모듈랩 및 프로덕션 운영을 통한 정주형 인재 양성 ▲K-컬처 산업 육성과 글로벌 콘텐츠 지식재산권 확보 등을 포함한 3대 분야 15개 전략과제를 발표했다.

부산외국어대학교는 ‘50+ 외국어를 데이터로, 지역과 세계를 잇는 글로벌 혁신대학’을 비전으로, ▲AI 기반 초광역·글로벌 교육허브 구축 ▲50개국 이상 다국어 데이터 생태계 조성 ▲지역 맞춤형 다국어 솔루션 개발 및 해외 진출 지원 등 3대 분야 10개 전략과제를 추진한다.

부산시는 향후 이들 대학이 지역 특화산업과 연계된 혁신 인재를 양성하고, 글로벌 경쟁력을 갖춘 교육·산업 거점으로 성장하도록 행정적·재정적 지원을 아끼지 않을 계획이다. 특히, 특화산업단지 조성, 규제자유특구 확대, 청년 주거·복지 개선 등 정주환경 강화를 통해 지역 정착을 유도한다는 방침이다.

박형준 시장은 “글로컬대학은 부산의 미래 성장 엔진이자 세계 유수 대학들과 경쟁할 글로벌 인재 양성의 거점이 될 것”이라며, “경성대와 부산외대가 최종 지정된다면 각자의 특화 분야를 바탕으로 부산이 명실상부한 글로벌 허브 도시로 도약하는 계기가 될 것”이라고 강조했다.

한편, 교육부는 올해 전국 18개 예비 지정 대학 중 최종 10개 내외의 대학을 9월 중 선정할 예정이며, 선정 대학에는 5년간 최대 1천억 원의 지원이 이뤄진다. 부산시는 이번이 마지막 공모인 만큼 지역 3개 대학 모두의 최종 선정을 목표로 총력을 다하고 있다.

They must submit their final implementation plans to the Ministry of Education by August 11th.

Kyungsung University, with its vision of becoming a "K-Culture Global Innovation Leading University," announced 15 strategic tasks in three areas: building a hyper-realistic convergence campus centered on MEGA (Media, Movie, Entertainment, Gala/MICE, Arts), fostering permanent talent through MEGA module labs and production operations, and fostering the K-Culture industry and securing global content intellectual property rights.

Busan University of Foreign Studies, with its vision of becoming a "Global Innovation University Connecting the Region and the World through Data in 50+ Foreign Languages," is pursuing 10 strategic tasks in three areas: building an AI-based, ultra-wide area and global education hub, fostering a multilingual data ecosystem covering over 50 countries, and developing regionally tailored multilingual solutions and supporting overseas expansion.

The Busan Metropolitan Government plans to provide unwavering administrative and financial support to these universities, enabling them to cultivate innovative talent linked to regional specialized industries and grow into globally competitive educational and industrial hubs. Specifically, the city plans to encourage local settlement by strengthening the residential environment through the development of specialized industrial complexes, expansion of regulatory-free special zones, and improvements to housing and welfare for young people.

Mayor Park Hyung-joon stated, "Glocal universities will serve as Busan's future growth engines and hubs for nurturing global talent that can compete with leading universities around the world."
