[브레이크뉴스=김선옥 기자] 아시아 최대 영화 축제인 '제30회 부산국제영화제'에서 국내외 신진 영화인, 예비 크리에이터, 그리고 제작 전문가들을 위한 특별 프로그램 '크리에이티브 아시아(Creative Asia)'가 열린다. 이 프로그램은 글로벌 스트리밍 플랫폼 넷플릭스가 주최하며, 올해로 2회를 맞는다.

 

세계적 거장과 함께하는 마스터 클래스 및 대담

오는 20일(토), 부산 센텀시티에 위치한 동서대학교-경남정보대학교 센텀캠퍼스 컨벤션홀에서 열리는 이번 행사는 마스터 클래스와 특별 대담으로 구성된다.

 

행사의 시작은 넷플릭스 아시아태평양(인도 제외) 프로덕션 부문 시니어 디렉터인 이성규가 진행하는 'APAC 프로덕션 패널 세션'이다. 본 세션은 아시아 지역 콘텐츠 제작의 흐름과 전략을 소개하는 시간으로 구성된다.

 

이후 오후에는 국내외 유명 창작자들이 참여하는 특별 대담이 이어진다. 넷플릭스 영화 <프랑켄슈타인>을 연출한 기예르모 델 토로 감독과 <지옥>, <계시록>을 연출한 연상호 감독이 무대에 올라 각자의 작품 세계와 창작 과정에 대해 이야기할 예정이다.

 

또한, 넷플릭스 역사상 가장 많은 사랑을 받은 영화로 꼽히는 <케이팝 데몬 헌터스>의 매기 강 감독, 일본 영화 <이쿠사가미: 전쟁의 신>의 유이 미야모리 미술 감독, 넷플릭스 대만 시리즈 <회혼계>를 연출한 찬정다오 감독도 참여해, 각국의 제작 환경과 영화의 새로운 가능성에 대한 인사이트를 공유한다.

 

시나리오·연출 집중 트레이닝 세션 운영

이번 '크리에이티브 아시아'에서는 실무 중심의 교육 세션도 함께 운영된다. 넷플릭스와 한국콘텐츠진흥원(콘진원)이 공동 주최하는 '시나리오 및 연출 집중 트레이닝 세션'이 마련되며, 이는 문화체육관광부와 넷플릭스, 콘진원이 함께 운영 중인 '넷플릭스 프로덕션 아카데미'의 일환으로 진행된다.

 

해당 세션에는 미국 할리우드 출신의 베테랑 크리에이터 조 퍼라키오와 마이클 레만이 강연자로 참여한다. 이들은 글로벌 제작 환경에서의 실무 경험을 바탕으로, 국내 창작자들에게 드라마 제작의 흐름과 기획, 집필, 산업 변화에 대한 이해 등을 전할 예정이다.

At Asia’s largest film festival, the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), a special program titled ‘Creative Asia’ will be held for emerging filmmakers, aspiring creators, and production professionals from Korea and abroad. The event, hosted by global streaming platform Netflix, returns for its second edition this year.

 

Masterclasses and Talks with Global Film Masters

The event will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Centum Campus Convention Hall of Dongseo University–Kyungnam College of Information & Technology, located in Busan’s Centum City district.

 

It will feature masterclasses and special talk sessions with prominent names from the global content industry.

 

The program opens with the ‘APAC Production Panel Session’, led by Sungkyu Lee, Senior Director of Production for Netflix Asia-Pacific (excluding India). This session will explore key trends and strategies in content production across the Asia-Pacific region.

 

In the afternoon, a series of special conversations with globally recognized creators will follow. Guillermo del Toro, director of the Netflix film Frankenstein, and Yeon Sang-ho, director of Hellbound and The Bequeathed, will take the stage to discuss their creative universes and filmmaking processes.

 

Also joining are: ▲Maggie Kang, director of K-Pop Demon Hunters, hailed as the most beloved film in Netflix’s history,▲Yui Miyamori, production designer of Netflix Japan’s Ikusagami: God of War,▲Chen Cheng-tao, renowned director of the Netflix Taiwan series Till the End

 

These creators will share their insights on the future of cinema and the evolving environments of film production in their respective countries.

 

Scriptwriting and Directing Intensive Training Session

In addition to keynote sessions, ‘Creative Asia’ will also host practical training programs for content creators. The ‘Scriptwriting and Directing Intensive Training Session’, co-hosted by Netflix and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), will take place as part of the ‘Netflix Production Academy’, a collaborative initiative operated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, KOCCA, and Netflix. The program aims to foster the sustainable growth of Korea’s creative ecosystem and nurture the next generation of content creators.

 

Veteran Hollywood creators Joe Peracchio and Michael Lehmann will serve as instructors.

Drawing on their hands-on experience in global content production, they will guide Korean creators through international drama development workflows, including story planning, scriptwriting, and navigating the rapidly evolving entertainment industry.
