[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 22일 오전 6시 6분경, 부산 해운대구 재송동의 한 교차로 인근에서 SUV 차량이 인도로 돌진해 편의점을 들이받는 사고가 발생했다.

사고 차량은 20대 남성 운전자가 몰던 SUV로, 당시 차량은 교차로를 통과하던 중 갑자기 진행 방향 오른쪽에 위치한 편의점으로 돌진했다. 이 사고로 차량 운전자와 편의점 안에 있던 40대 여성 종업원이 다쳐 인근 병원으로 이송됐다. 두 사람 모두 생명에는 지장이 없는 경상으로 확인됐다.

경찰은 사고 당시 운전자가 음주 상태는 아니었으며, 졸음운전으로 인해 차량을 제대로 통제하지 못한 것으로 보고 있다. 부산해운대경찰서는 차량 블랙박스와 주변 CCTV 영상 등을 확보해 정확한 사고 경위를 조사 중이다.

경찰 관계자는 “운전자가 졸음운전을 진술했으며, 현재 확보된 영상을 토대로 사실관계를 면밀히 확인하고 있다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 사고가 발생한 편의점은 정면 유리창과 출입문이 크게 파손됐으며, 영업 중이던 점포 내에도 피해가 발생한 것으로 알려졌다. 사고 당시 편의점 안에는 종업원 외 고객은 없어 더 큰 인명피해는 발생하지 않았다.

경찰은 운전자를 상대로 추가 조사를 진행하는 한편, 사고 차량의 제동 상태 및 기계적 결함 여부 등도 함께 확인할 방침이다.

At approximately 6:06 a.m. on September 22, an SUV crashed into a convenience store near an intersection in Jwae-song-dong, Haeundae-gu, Busan.

The vehicle, driven by a man in his 20s, suddenly veered off course and plowed into the convenience store located to the right of the vehicle’s direction of travel. At the time of the accident, the SUV was passing through the intersection when the crash occurred.

Two people were injured: the driver and a female store employee in her 40s. Both were transported to a nearby hospital and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the police, the driver was not under the influence of alcohol, and the crash is presumed to have been caused by drowsy driving. The Haeundae Police Station is currently analyzing dashboard camera footage and CCTV recordings from nearby buildings to determine the exact cause of the accident.

A police official stated, “The driver admitted to dozing off at the wheel. We are reviewing the video evidence to verify the details of the incident.”

The convenience store suffered significant damage, including shattered front windows and a broken entrance door. Fortunately, no customers were present inside the store at the time, preventing more serious injuries.

Police plan to conduct further questioning of the driver and inspect the vehicle for any possible mechanical issues, including brake failure.
