[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산 금정경찰서는 인지 능력이 저하된 고령 여성을 상대로 귀금속을 훔치고 거액의 대출을 받게 한 혐의로 50대 남성 A씨를 구속해 송치했다고 밝혔다.

A씨는 2024년 7월부터 8월까지 약 한 달간 지인 관계였던 70대 여성 B씨의 집에 함께 거주하며, 치매 진단을 받은 B씨의 상태를 악용한 것으로 조사됐다.

A씨는 B씨 주거 내에 보관 중이던 시가 약 1,100만 원 상당의 귀금속을 절취한 뒤, B씨 명의로 카드론과 아파트 담보대출을 실행해 현금을 인출하는 방식으로 약 1억 6,000만 원을 편취한 혐의를 받고 있다.

절취 및 편취 피해액은 총 1억 7,000만 원에 달하는 것으로 확인됐다. 금정경찰서는 올해 1월 피해자 측의 고소를 접수한 뒤 수사에 착수해, 지난 10일 A씨를 검찰에 구속 송치했다.

경찰은 인지 장애 등으로 판단 능력이 저하된 노인을 대상으로 한 유사 범죄가 재발하지 않도록 관련 범죄 수법을 분석하고, 사회적 약자 보호를 위한 예방 대책 마련에 주력할 방침이다.

According to police, A lived in the home of B, a woman in her 70s diagnosed with dementia, from July to August 2024 and exploited her diminished cognitive state. During that period, he allegedly stole jewelry worth about 11 million won from her residence and took out card loans and a mortgage using her name, withdrawing approximately 160 million won in cash.

The combined amount of stolen and defrauded funds was confirmed to total around 170 million won. After receiving a complaint from the victim in January 2025, Geumjeong Police launched an investigation and, on October 10, referred A to the prosecution in custody.

Authorities emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable groups such as elderly individuals with cognitive impairment and stated that they will continue efforts to prevent similar crimes through enhanced monitoring and preventive measures.
