[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산지역 고등학생들이 학교 여건 문제로 듣기 어려웠던 과목을 온라인으로 수강할 수 있게 됐다. 올해부터 본격 시행된 고교학점제의 안정적 정착에도 힘이 실릴 전망이다.

부산광역시교육청은 부산온라인학교  개교식을  오는 20일 오전 북구 덕천동 부산 SW·AI교육거점센터 5층에 위치한 마주온 강의실에서 개최한다. 이번 행사는 오프라인 현장과 온라인 생중계를 병행해 온·오프라인 이원화 방식으로 진행되며, 김석준 교육감과 부산시의회 의원, 교육관계자들이 참석할 예정이다.

학생 선택권 확대와 학점제 정착 기대

부산온라인학교는 공립 각종학교 형태로 설립돼, 수강 인원이 적거나 교사가 배치되지 않아 기존 학교에서 개설이 어려웠던 과목의 운영을 지원한다. 지난 3월부터 부산 지역 일반고와 자율형사립고, 특목고 재학생을 대상으로 온라인 강의를 운영 중이다.

이를 통해 학생들은 자신의 진로와 적성에 맞는 다양한 선택과목을 자유롭게 이수할 수 있게 되었으며, 이는 고교학점제의 안착에도 큰 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

수강 증가로 높아진 관심

2025학년도에는 총 42개 강좌가 개설돼 31개 고등학교 231명의 학생이 참여하고 있으며, 2026학년도 수강신청은 지난 5월 시작돼 현재 79개 강좌에 619명의 학생이 신청했다. 부산온라인학교에 대한 지역 학생들의 관심이 점차 높아지는 모습이다.

첨단 환경 기반의 미래형 교육공간 조성

부산시교육청은 지난 7월, 온라인 스튜디오와 온·오프라인 강의실, 수업지원실, 전산실 등을 최신식 기자재로 구축해 최고 수준의 온라인 교육환경을 마련했다.

김석준 교육감은 “부산온라인학교의 개교는 지역 간 교육 격차로 인한 물리적 한계를 뛰어넘는 미래형 교육의 출발점”이라며 “앞으로도 학생 맞춤형 학습 지원과 지역 교육 격차 해소를 위해 적극 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.

High school students in the Busan area can now take courses online that were previously unavailable at their schools due to limited enrollment or a lack of teachers. The move is expected to further stabilize the newly implemented high school credit system, which went into full effect this year.

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the opening ceremony for Busan Online School on the morning of the 20th at the “Majuon Classroom” on the 5th floor of the Busan SW·AI Education Hub Center in Deokcheon-dong, Buk-gu. The event will take place both offline and via live online broadcast, with Superintendent Kim Seok-jun, city council members, and other education officials in attendance.

Expanded Student Choices and Credit System Stabilization

Busan Online School is a public special-purpose institution established to support the operation of courses that were hard to offer in regular schools due to low student demand or the absence of qualified teachers. Since March, the school has been offering online classes to students enrolled at regular high schools, autonomous private high schools, and specialized schools in Busan.

Through this initiative, students can freely choose and complete subjects that match their interests and career aspirations, a development expected to greatly aid the settlement of the credit-based system.

Growing Student Interest Reflected in Enrollment

For the 2025 academic year, a total of 42 different courses have been offered, with 231 students from 31 high schools participating. Course registration for the 2026 academic year began in May, with 619 students applying for 79 courses to date, highlighting the growing interest among local students in Busan Online School.

Creating a Future-Oriented Educational Environment

Last July, the Busan Office of Education equipped the school with state-of-the-art facilities, including an online studio, hybrid classrooms, support rooms, and server rooms, to ensure a leading online learning environment.

Superintendent Kim Seok-jun commented, “The opening of Busan Online School marks the launch of future-oriented education that overcomes the physical limitations of regional education gaps. The office will continue striving to support customized student learning and narrow regional educational disparities.”
