[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] ‘부산 사직야구장 재건축 사업’이 문화체육관광부가 주관한 ‘공공체육시설 개보수 지원 공모사업’에 최종 선정돼 국비 299억 원을 확보했다. 

이번 확보액은 전국 야구장 건립 사업 중 최대 규모의 국비 지원으로, 사직야구장 재건축의 국가적 타당성과 필요성이 공식 인정받은 것이다.  

국비 299억 확보…부산시 재정 부담 대폭 경감  

이번 국비 확보는 지난 7월 행정안전부 중앙투자심사를 통과한 데 이어 이뤄진 성과로, 사업의 추진 동력이 한층 강화됐다. 시는 문화체육관광부 공모사업 참여를 통해 총 사업비 2,924억 원 중 지방비 부담을 크게 줄이는 동시에 사업 추진의 재정적 안정성을 확보했다.  

확보된 국비 299억 원은 사업 첫 해인 2026년 50억 원을 시작으로, 사업 진행 일정에 따라 순차적으로 지원될 예정이다.  

사직야구장 2031년 개장 목표…임시구장은 아시아드주경기장  

시는 내년(2026년) 설계공모를 시작으로 2028년부터 2030년까지 본격 공사에 들어가며, 2031년 3월 개장을 목표로 하고 있다.  

공사 기간 동안에는 ‘부산 아시아드주경기장’을 임시구장으로 리모델링해 프로야구 경기와 시민 관람이 모두 가능한 쾌적하고 안전한 환경을 마련하겠다는 계획이다.  

“시민과 함께할 명품 야구장으로 재탄생”  

박형준 부산시장은 “새로운 사직야구장은 단순한 체육시설을 넘어 지역경제의 거점이자 스포츠·문화·산업이 어우러진 미래 자산으로 거듭날 것”이라며 “시민 친화적인 명품 야구장을 완성해 부산의 상징으로 재탄생시키겠다”고 말했다.

-Largest National Grant for a Baseball Facility in Korea; Stadium to Reopen in 2031

The Busan Metropolitan City Government announced that its “Sajik Baseball Stadium Reconstruction Project” has been selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s national program supporting the renovation of public sports facilities. The selection secures 29.9 billion won in national funding—the largest government grant ever awarded for a baseball stadium project in Korea.  

According to the city, the funding reflects a nationwide recognition of the necessity and feasibility of rebuilding Sajik Stadium. It also represents the culmination of a long‑held wish of Busan citizens and joint efforts by local lawmakers.  

Strong National Backing for Financial Stability  

Following the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s approval in July, Busan actively pursued the culture ministry’s grant program to ensure financial stability for the 2 trillion 9 hundred 24 billion‑won project. The newly secured 29.9 billion won in funding will ease the city’s fiscal burden and strengthen momentum for timely construction.  

The first 5 billion won allocation will be made in 2026, with the remainder distributed progressively according to the project schedule.  

Construction through 2030, Opening in March 2031  

The city plans to begin the design competition in 2026, carry out main construction from 2028 to 2030, and reopen the new stadium in March 2031. During construction, the Busan Asiad Main Stadium will be renovated as a temporary home field to provide a comfortable and safe environment for both players and fans.

Mayor Park Heong‑joon said, “The new Sajik Stadium will go beyond being just a sports facility. It will become a key driving force of the regional economy and a future asset integrating sports, culture, and industry. Busan will deliver a world‑class, citizen‑friendly baseball park worthy of the city’s pride.”
