[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산문화재단이 지역 예술가들의 아시아 주요 국제예술 무대 진출을 적극 지원하며 ‘부산 예술(B-Art)’의 국제화를 이끌고 있다. 시각예술, 공연예술, 민간교류 등 다양한 분야에서의 협력은 지역 예술인의 활동 영역을 넓히고, 지속가능한 문화교류의 기반을 마련하고 있다.

 

세토우치 국제예술제 공식 참가…부산 작가 노만 작품 호평

부산문화재단은 지난 10월 일본 가가와현 쇼도시마에서 열린 ‘세토우치 국제예술제 2025’에 공식 참가하여, 부산을 기반으로 활동하는 설치미술가 노만(본명 이은혜) 작가의 작품을 선보였다.  

 

노만 작가는 일본 현대예술 플랫폼 ‘Bank ART 1929’와 협력해 9월 도쿄에서 열린 사전 워크숍과 한일문화미래컨퍼런스에 참여하며 국제적 네트워크를 확장했다. 이후 세토우치 아시아갤러리에 전시된 설치작품은 관람객의 움직임에 따라 빛과 그림자의 변화로 공간의 경계를 재해석해 주목을 받았다.

 

세토우치국제예술제 총괄 디렉터 기타가와 후라무는 “노만의 작품은 자연과 생명의 경계를 탐구하며, ‘바다의 복권’을 예술적으로 구현한 뛰어난 작품”이라고 평가했다.  

 

노만 작가는 “해외 전시가 막연히 멀게만 느껴졌지만, 재단의 지원으로 새로운 예술적 시도와 교류의 기회를 얻었다”며 “이번 경험이 앞으로의 창작 활동에 큰 영감을 줄 것”이라고 소감을 전했다.

 

노만 작가의 작품은 11월 9일까지 세토우치 아시아갤러리에 전시되며, 세토우치 국제예술제 공식 홈페이지에서도 감상할 수 있다.

 

한일 공연예술 교류 강화…다이도게 월드컵 실행위원회와 MOU 체결

부산문화재단은 지난 달 31일 일본 다이도게 월드컵 실행위원회(위원장 이노마타 히로미쓰)와 한일 양국 간 문화예술 교류 활성화를 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다.

‘다이도게 월드컵 in 시즈오카’는 1992년 시작된 일본 최대 규모의 거리예술 축제로, 시즈오카시의 문화 비전인 ‘도시는 하나의 극장’을 구현하는 대표 행사로 평가받고 있다.

 

재단은 도쿠가와 이에야스 사후 400주년 기념사업을 계기로 시즈오카시와의 문화교류를 본격화한 지 10주년을 맞았다. 2019년부터는 양 도시 예술가들의 상호 참여로 협력의 폭을 넓혀왔으며, 부산 조선통신사 축제와 시즈오카 다이도게 월드컵에 거리예술가를 교환 파견하며 활발한 교류를 이어가고 있다.

 

올해는 부산국제공연예술마켓(BPAM)과 연계해 상호 교류 공연을 진행했다. 다이도게 월드컵 실행위원회의 추천으로 일본 예술가 3팀이 부산에서 공연을 펼쳤으며, 부산문화재단이 추천한 지역 예술가 2팀은 10월 31일부터 11월 3일까지 시즈오카에서 열린 ‘다이도게 월드컵 in 시즈오카 2025’ 무대에 올라 하루 두 차례 공연을 선보였다.

 

이번 협약은 예술가 상호 교류와 예산 지원을 포함한 장기적 협력 체계를 구축하기 위한 것으로, 향후 공동 프로젝트와 다양한 문화 프로그램으로 협력을 강화할 계획이다. 부산문화재단이 일본 다이도게 월드컵 측과 직접 협약을 체결한 것은 국내 기관으로는 처음으로, 양국 문화예술 교류에 새로운 전환점을 마련했다는 점에서 의미가 크다.

 

오재환 대표이사는 “지역 예술인의 잇따른 국제 진출은 부산 예술의 역량이 세계적으로 인정받은 결과”라며 “재단은 앞으로도 예술가들이 세계 무대에서 성장할 수 있는 든든한 플랫폼이 되겠다”고 말했다.

Busan Artist Noman Showcased at Setouchi Triennale 2025

In October, the foundation officially joined the Setouchi Triennale 2025 held in Shodoshima, Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, featuring installation artist Noman (real name Lee Eun-hye), based in Busan.  

 

Working with the Japanese contemporary art platform Bank ART 1929, Noman participated in preparatory workshops and the Korea–Japan Cultural Future Conference in Tokyo this September, broadening her international perspective and network.  

 

Her installation, exhibited at the Setouchi Asia Gallery, reinterpreted spatial boundaries through shifting light, shadow, and reflections in response to the viewer’s movement, earning strong attention from visitors.  

 

Setouchi Triennale general director Fram Kitagawa praised the work as “a piece that explores the boundaries of nature and life, transcending disconnections of time and society, and artistically embodying the idea of the ‘Rebirth of the Sea.’”  

 

Noman noted, “An overseas exhibition once felt out of reach, but with the foundation’s support, I had the chance to pursue new challenges and global collaboration. This experience will deeply inspire my future creative work.”  

 

Her artwork will remain on view at the Setouchi Asia Gallery through November 9 and can also be viewed on the festival’s official website.

 

Korea–Japan Performing Arts Cooperation Strengthens through MOU with Daidogei World Cup

On October 31, the foundation signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Daidogei World Cup Executive Committee, chaired by Hiromitsu Inomata, to foster stronger cultural and artistic exchange between Korea and Japan.  

 

The “Daidogei World Cup in Shizuoka,” launched in 1992, is Japan’s largest street performance festival and a signature event embodying the city’s cultural vision that “the city itself is a theater.”  

 

Marking the 10th year of cultural partnership with the city of Shizuoka, the BSCF first began exchanges in connection with the Tokugawa Ieyasu 400th anniversary projects. Since 2019, cooperation has expanded to direct artist participation, with both cities dispatching street performers to each other’s festivals — the Busan Joseon Tongsinsa Festival and the Daidogei World Cup.  

 

This year, the collaboration was linked to the Busan Performing Arts Market (BPAM). Three Japanese artist teams recommended by the Daidogei World Cup Executive Committee performed in Busan, while two Busan teams selected by the foundation took part in the Daidogei World Cup in Shizuoka 2025 from October 31 to November 3, giving two performances daily.  

 

The new agreement aims to establish a stable and sustainable framework for artist exchange and funding support. Both organizations plan to continue developing joint projects and collaborative programs. This marks the first time a Korean cultural institution has directly signed an agreement with the Daidogei World Cup Executive Committee, signaling a new stage in Korea–Japan cultural exchange.  

 

CEO Oh Jae-hwan said, “The growing international recognition of Busan’s artists reflects the city’s creative strength. The foundation will continue to serve as a strong platform helping local artists connect with the world stage.”
