[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산 최대 규모의 폭력조직 두 세력이 조직 간 갈등으로 잇따라 보복 폭행을 벌이다 경찰에 대거 검거됐다.

부산경찰청 형사기동대는 지난해 11월부터 올해 8월까지 도심 일대에서 흉기를 이용한 보복 폭행을 반복한 부산 지역 양대 폭력조직 A·B파 조직원 45명을 검거하고, 이 중 범행을 주도한 19명을 구속했다고 10일 밝혔다.

경찰에 따르면 A파 조직원들은 지난해 11월 7일 부산의 한 노래방에서 최근 B파에 가입한 동네 후배를 상대로 조직원을 동원해 B파 소속 조직원을 집단 폭행, 비골 골절 등 4주 진단의 상해를 입혔다.

이후 B파는 같은 달 29일부터 올해 2월 19일까지 세 차례에 걸쳐 회칼을 휘두르며 A파 조직원들을 위협하거나 무차별 폭행해 8주 상해를 입히는 등 보복에 나섰다.

이에 맞서 A파는 지난 4월 6일 부산의 한 아파트 복도에서 외출 중이던 B파 조직원의 얼굴을 소화기로 때리고 다리를 회칼로 수차례 찌르는 방식으로 재보복했다.

하지만, 보복은 여기서 그치지 않았다. B파는 곧바로 조직원 17명을 소집해 흉기를 들고 여러 대 차량으로 나눠타고 A파 조직원을 수색한 끝에, 4월 7일부터 8월 29일까지 두 차례에 걸쳐 A파 조직원들을 집단 폭행하고, 깨진 소주병으로 얼굴 등을 찔러 신경 손상을 입히는 등 추가 보복을 감행했다.

부산경찰청 형사기동대는 검찰청·교정청과 협업해 조직적 범죄 혐의를 입증, ‘폭력행위 등 처벌에 관한 법률 위반(단체 등의 구성·활동)’혐의를 적용했다. 특히 교정시설 수감 중 외부 조직원에게 범행을 지시하거나 공모한 인물들도 교사·방조 혐의로 입건됐다.

경찰은 검거된 45명 중 범행을 주도한 16명과 조직원의 도피를 도운 3명 등 19명을 구속했으며, 해외로 도주한 조직원 2명에 대해서는 인터폴 적색수배를 요청했다.

이번 사건에 연루된 조직원 대부분은 20~30대 신규 조직원으로 확인됐다. 경찰은 이들을 관리대상 조직원으로 새로 편입하고, 향후 지역 사회의 불안 요인을 차단하기 위해 '공모·지시한 배후 세력까지 엄정 처벌'하겠다는 방침이다.

Police say suspects used knives and blunt weapons in series of assaults; two suspects placed on Interpol wanted list

(BUSAN, South Korea) — Police in Busan have arrested 45 members of two rival organized crime groups involved in a violent turf war that led to multiple revenge attacks across the city, authorities said Sunday. Nineteen key suspects accused of leading the assaults have been detained, and two others who fled abroad have been placed on an Interpol wanted list.

According to the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency’s Criminal Task Force, the violence erupted on Nov. 7, 2024, when members of Gang A attacked a member of rival Gang B at a karaoke bar after learning he had recently defected. The victim suffered a nasal fracture and other injuries requiring four weeks of treatment.

Gang B responded later that month, between Nov. 29, 2024, and Feb. 19, 2025, with three retaliatory attacks in which members brandished kitchen knives and assaulted Gang A members, leaving one victim with injuries requiring eight weeks of recovery.

The cycle of retaliation continued in April, when a Gang A member struck a Gang B member in the face with a fire extinguisher in an apartment hallway, then stabbed his legs several times with a knife. The following day, Gang B mobilized 17 members carrying weapons and split into several vehicles to hunt for Gang A rivals. Between April 7 and Aug. 29, they launched two further assaults, beating rivals and stabbing one in the face with a broken soju bottle, causing nerve damage.

Police said they collaborated with prosecutors and correctional authorities to prove the organized nature of the crimes and applied the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes for “organizing or participating in a criminal group.” Officers also charged imprisoned gang leaders who ordered or conspired in the attacks with incitement and aiding or abetting the crimes.

Of those arrested, 16 suspects accused of orchestrating the violence and three who helped others evade capture were taken into custody. The remaining members were booked without detention.

Most of the suspects are in their 20s and 30s and had recently joined the gangs, police said. The Busan Metropolitan Police pledged to tighten surveillance of gang members and pursue not only those directly involved in the attacks but also the leaders who ordered or coordinated the violence. “We will respond firmly to any form of organized crime that threatens public safety and the everyday lives of citizens,” a police spokesperson said.
