[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부전역을 KTX 정차역으로 지정하고 복합환승센터 건립을 조속히 추진해 달라는 부산 시민들의 목소리가 국토교통부에 전달됐다. 부산진구는 서울 여의도에서 주민 40만 명의 서명을 정부에 직접 전달하며 부산 도심 교통 혁신의 필요성을 강조했다.  

 

국회서 서명운동 결과 전달  

부산진구(구청장 김영욱)는 19일 오전 서울 여의도 국회의원회관에서 ‘부전역 KTX 정차 및 복합환승센터 건립 추진을 위한 서명운동 결과 전달식’을 개최했다.  

 

이날 행사에는 김영욱 부산진구청장을 비롯해 박현철 부산진구의회 의장, 김윤환 부전역 복합환승센터 추진협의회장을 포함한 지역 대표단 10명이 참석했다.  

 

지역구 국회의원인 정성국(부산진구갑)·이헌승(부산진구을) 의원도 함께해 국토교통부 철도국장을 비롯한 정부 관계자에게 약 40만 명의 시민 서명지를 직접 전달했다.  

 

교통 허브 ‘부전역’, KTX 정차 필요성 대두  

부전역은 동해선, 중앙선, 부전~마산 복선전철, 부산형 급행철도(BuTX) 등 주요 노선이 집결하는 부산 도심 교통의 핵심 거점이지만, 현재까지 KTX가 정차하지 않아 서울 등 전국 주요 도시로의 접근성이 제한되어 있다.  

 

이에 부산진구는 지난 2월부터 온·오프라인을 통해 ‘부전역 KTX 정차 및 복합환승센터 건립’ 서명운동을 전개해 40만여 명의 서명을 확보했으며, 100만 명 달성까지 지속 추진할 계획이다.  

 

“부전역, 부산 도심 접근성의 관문으로”  

김영욱 부산진구청장은 “부전역에 KTX가 정차하게 되면 부산 도심의 교통 접근성이 크게 향상될 뿐 아니라 복합환승센터 건립도 속도를 낼 수 있다”며 “40만 명의 주민 의지가 정책 결정의 기반이 되길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.  

 

이헌승.정성국 의원도 “부전역 KTX 정차와 복합환승센터 건립은 부산 교통체계 혁신과 지역 균형발전을 위한 중대한 과제”라며 “제5차 국가철도망 구축계획(2026~2035년)과 대도시권 광역교통 시행계획(2026~2030년)에 반드시 반영되도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 덧붙였다.  

 

시 차원의 추진과 지역 기대  

부산광역시 역시 복합환승센터 건립을 위한 사전타당성 조사 및 기본구상 용역을 진행 중이다. 다양한 노선이 집중되는 부전역은 향후 전국 철도망 중심지로의 성장 가능성이 높아, 지금이 정책 반영의 적기로 평가된다. 다만 지역사회는 중앙정부의 적극적인 지원 없이는 가시적 성과를 내기 어렵다고 입을 모은다.  

 

부산진구는 이번 국회 전달식을 계기로 시민 서명운동을 이어가며, 부전역 일대를 부산의 새로운 관문이자 전국을 잇는 철도 중심지로 육성하기 위한 정책 제안 활동을 지속할 방침이다.

The voices of Busan citizens calling for the designation of Bujeon Station as a KTX stop and the swift construction of an integrated transit center have been delivered to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

 

On November 19, the Busanjin District Office delivered a petition signed by 400,000 citizens to national lawmakers and government officials, pressing for the construction of an integrated transit center and improved rail connectivity.  

 

Petition Delivered at the National Assembly  

The Busanjin District Office, led by Mayor Kim Young-uk, held a ceremony at the National Assembly Members’ Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, to present the results of its public signature campaign supporting a KTX stop and the construction of a new transit hub at Bujeon Station.  

 

Mayor Kim was joined by Busanjin District Council Chair Park Hyun-chul, Bujeon Station Transit Center Promotion Council Chairman Kim Yun-hwan, and other local representatives. National Assembly members Jung Sung-guk (Busanjin-gap) and Lee Hun-seung (Busanjin-eul) also attended and personally handed the signatures to officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s Railroad Bureau.  

 

Bujeon Station: The Missing KTX Link  

Although Bujeon Station serves as a key railway hub connecting multiple lines—including the Donghae Line, Jungang Line, Bujeon–Masan double-track railway, and the planned Busan Express Train (BuTX)—it remains excluded from the KTX network, limiting direct access to Seoul and other major cities.  

 

Since February, Busanjin District has collected more than 400,000 online and offline signatures supporting the inclusion of Bujeon Station in the KTX line and the development of a transit complex. The district aims to expand the campaign to reach one million signatories.  

 

“Gateway to Central Busan”  

Mayor Kim emphasized that enabling KTX service at Bujeon would significantly strengthen urban connectivity and accelerate the transit center’s construction. “The voices of 400,000 citizens should serve as a vital foundation for national policy decisions,” he said.  

 

Lawmakers Jung and Lee echoed the sentiment, noting, “Establishing a KTX stop and integrated transit center at Bujeon Station is essential to advancing Busan’s transportation network and ensuring balanced regional growth.” They pledged to work toward including the project in the government’s upcoming 5th National Rail Network Plan (2026–2035) and 5th Metropolitan Area Transport Implementation Plan (2026–2030).  

 

City-Level Plans and Future Outlook  

Busan Metropolitan City is conducting a preliminary feasibility study and master plan for the proposed transit complex. With numerous railway lines converging in the area, Bujeon Station is widely viewed as poised to become a major transit hub in the national rail network.  

However, local officials and residents stress that visible progress will require stronger support from the central government and legislative leadership.  

 

By organizing the petition and National Assembly event, Busanjin District reaffirmed its commitment to turning the Bujeon Station area into a new gateway for Busan and a strategic rail hub connecting the entire country. The district plans to continue mobilizing public participation and advancing policy advocacy efforts.
