[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 도심 단절을 극복하고 시민 삶의 질을 높이기 위해 추진한 ‘15분도시 제2차 해피챌린지’ 괘법·감전 생활권 사업이 20일 준공식을 마치고 첫 성과를 드러냈다.  

이 사업은 차로와 철로로 끊어진 도심 공간을 보행 중심의 친환경 거리와 녹지 축으로 재편하는 것으로, 총 15개 세부 사업(면적 6.94㎢, 예산 362억 원)으로 구성되어 있으며, 2027년까지 단계적으로 마무리할 예정이다.

'도심 내 걷기 편한 공간 탈바꿈'

준공식은 사상광장로 그린카펫 일원에서 박형준 부산시장과 지역 주민 200여 명이 참석한 가운데 개회와 퍼포먼스, 축하의 자리를 가졌으며, 이번에 완성된 ‘사상광장로 그린카펫’ 구간은 노상주차장과 차도를 축소하고 폭 넓은 보도와 선형공원을 조성해 도심 내 걷기 편한 공간으로 탈바꿈했다.

이 구간은 내년 2월 마무리될 ‘괘내마을~사상공원 보행환경개선사업’과 연계되어 사상역과 괘내마을을 연결하는 핵심 축으로 활용되며, 도심 내 교통·공간적 단절 해소에 큰 역할을 할 전망이다.[

도시의 삶의 질을 높여가...시민 참여형 축제

부산시는 이번 준공을 시작으로, 앞으로 철로 구간 연결, 반려동물 친화 공간, 낙동제방 조명 등 다양한 정책 과제들을 2027년까지 차근차근 추진하며 도시의 삶의 질을 높여갈 계획이다.

이날 행사에는 시민 참여형 축제도 함께 열려, 야외도서관과 체험부스, 주민 아이디어 공유 프로그램, 플리마켓, 버스킹 공연 등 다양한 문화·체험 프로그램이 시민들과 함께 했다. 시 관계자는 “이 공간이 도시 안의 새로운 생활 플랫폼으로 자리 잡아, 시민들이 문화와 여가, 교류를 활발히 할 수 있기를 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

시민 중심의 도시 재편을 목표로, 부산시는 앞으로도 시민이 일상 속에서 쉽게 접근하고 누릴 수 있는 ‘15분도시’ 인프라를 전 지역에 확대해 나갈 방침이다.

Busan marked a milestone in its urban renewal efforts by completing the ‘Second Happy Challenge’ project in the Gwaebeop-Gamjeon residential area with a ceremony held Monday afternoon at the newly created Sasang Square Green Carpet.

The event, attended by Mayor Park Hyung-jun, Sasang District Chief Cho Byung-gil, and about 200 residents, featured opening remarks, congratulatory speeches and cultural performances.

The project focuses on reconnecting urban spaces previously divided by roads and railways through creating pedestrian-friendly paths, parks and community spaces. Covering 6.94 square kilometers with a budget of 36.2 billion won, the initiative includes 15 subprojects to revitalize local neighborhoods and enhance residents’ quality of life.

One key achievement is the transformation of a 580-meter stretch of Sasang Square Road, where street parking and vehicle lanes were reduced to expand sidewalks and add a linear park. This segment links to the upcoming pedestrian improvement project connecting Gwaenae Village and Sasang Park, enabling continuous access from the Nakdong River to Sasang Station by early next year.

Busan plans to complete remaining efforts such as the Dongseo Connection Road, pet-friendly walking paths, decorative lighting along the Nakdong Embankment, and a new water playground at Sasang Park by 2027.

In celebration, the city hosted community events during the afternoon including an outdoor library, interactive exhibits, an AI portrait booth, flea market and street performances — all illustrating the Green Carpet's role in fostering vibrant urban life.

Mayor Park said, “This project transforms disconnected city parts into a unified green corridor, enriching the Sasang district. We will continue building infrastructure for culture, leisure and communication so all citizens can enjoy a higher quality of life within a 15-minute city framework.”
