브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= KBS가 고(故) 이순재를 애도하기 위해 특별 프로그램을 편성하고 추모 공간을 마련했다.  

 

KBS는 25일 “오늘 새벽 영면에 드신 이순재 선생님과 유가족에게 깊은 애도의 뜻을 전한다. ‘최고령 현역 배우’셨던 고인은 한평생 열정적인 연기 활동으로 대한민국 드라마의 역사를 써오신 분이다”며 “고인은 우리나라에 컬러TV가 보급되기 전인 1965년 TBC 1기 전속 배우로 방송 드라마 연기를 시작했으며, 방송 기술의 발전과 함께 대한민국 TV 드라마의 품격을 크게 향상시키는데 평생 기여했다”고 밝혔다.

 

이어 “특히 KBS에서는 ‘풍운’, ‘보통 사람들’, ‘목욕탕집 남자들’, ‘엄마가 뿔났다’, ‘개소리’까지 1980년대부터 2024년에 이르기까지 진심어린 연기로 시대와 세대를 아우르며 시청자들에게 깊은 울림을 남기셨다. KBS는 지난해 2TV 드라마 ‘개소리’에서 구순의 나이에 보여준 연기 열정을 기려 고인을 KBS 연기대상 역사상 최고령 대상 수상자로 선정했다”고 전했다.

 

KBS는 “타계한 이순재 선생님을 애도하는 마음을 시청자들과 함께하기 위해 고인을 기억할 수 있는 특별 프로그램을 편성하고 추모 공간도 마련한다. KBS 2TV에서는 25일 10시 45분부터 0시 5분까지 ‘추모특선 국민배우 이순재 ‘개소리 1~4회 몰아보기’’를, 내일(26일) 밤 11시 10분부터 0시 25분까지는 ‘추모특선 국민배우 이순재 ‘십분간, 당신의 사소한’’을 방영한다. 아울러 KBSN에서는 27일 오전 10시부터 ‘개소리’ 1~6회를, 28일 오전 10시부터 ‘개소리’ 7~12회를 편성한다”고 알렸다.

 

그러면서 “고인의 추모 공간은 서울 여의도 KBS 본관 2층에 마련했다. KBS 본관 분향소에는 일반인들의 조문이 가능하며, 30일까지 운영된다”며 “KBS는 반세기 넘게 한국 방송 발전에 기여한 고인의 예술적 업적과 헌신을 기리기 위해 분향소를 설치했으며 고인을 기억하는 구성원들과 시청자들에게 애도의 시간을 제공한다”고 덧붙였다.

한편, 현역 최고령 배우로 활동했던 ‘국민 배우’ 이순재는 25일 새벽 별세했다. 향년 91세.

 

1934년(호적상 1935년생) 함북 회령에서 태어난 이순재는 서울대학교 철학과를 졸업한 뒤 1956년 연극 ‘지평선 너머’로 연기 활동을 시작했다. 1960년 KBS 1기 탤런트로 출신으로 지난해까지 드라마, 영화, 연극 등 장르를 넘나들며 국내 최고령 현역 배우로 활동했다. 

 

노년에도 연극 ‘앙리할아버지와 나’, ‘장수상회’, ‘사랑해요, 당신’, ‘갈매기’, ‘아트’, ‘리어왕’, ‘고도를 기다리며를 기다리며’ 등에 출연하며 왕성한 배우 활동을 이어갔고, 지난해 ‘2024 KBS 연기대상’에서는 KBS 2TV 드라마 ‘개소리‘로 대상을 받으며 ‘역대 최고령’ 대상 수상자가 됐다. 

 

지난해 10월 연극 ‘고도를 기다리며를 기다리며’를 마지막으로 활동을 중단하고 건강 악화로 재활 치료를 받던 ‘국민 배우’ 이순재는 수많은 작품을 남긴 채 하늘의 별이 됐다.   

 

고인의 빈소는 서울 송파구 서울아산병원 장례식장에 마련됐다. 상주로는 아내 최희정 씨를 비롯해 아들, 딸이 이름을 올렸다. 발인은 27일 오전 6시 20분 엄수되며, 장지는 경기 이천 에덴낙원이다.

KBS 2TV will air "Memorial Special: National Actor Lee Soon-jae's 'Bullshit' Episodes 1-4" from 10:45 AM to 12:05 AM on the 25th, and "Memorial Special: National Actor Lee Soon-jae's 'Ten Minutes, Your Little Thing'" from 11:10 PM to 12:25 AM tomorrow (the 26th). Lee Soon-jae, a "national actor," retired from acting after the play "Waiting for Godot" in October of last year and received rehabilitation treatment due to declining health. He has since become a star, leaving behind numerous works.

 

The deceased's funeral has been held at the Seoul Asan Medical Center Funeral Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul. His wife, Choi Hee-jung, and his son and daughter have been named chief mourners. The funeral will be held at 6:20 a.m. on the 27th, and the burial site will be Eden Paradise in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.
