[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 교육부와 한국연구재단이 함께하는 첨단분야 혁신융합대학 제2회 코쇼(CO SHOW )가 26일부터 29일까지 4일간 부산 벡스코 제1전시장에서 열린다.

 

올해 행사는 67개 대학이 참여하며 첨단분야 혁신융합대학 COSS 사업의 대표 성과를 공유하고 첨단분야 대학 교육의 현재와 미래를 한자리에서 만나볼 수 있는 국내 최대 규모의 첨단융합교육 축제로 부산에서는 처음 개최된다.

 

코쇼는 대학 간 공유 개방형 교육 모델을 기반으로 첨단산업 인재 양성과 미래교육의 방향을 제시하는 대표 행사로 자리매김하고 있으며 교육부가 주최하고 한국연구재단과 첨단분야 혁신융합대학 사업단 협의회가 공동 주관한다.

올해 행사는 18개 첨단분야의 21개 경진대회와 60개의 교육 및 체험 프로그램으로 구성된다. 첨단기술과 대학교육의 변화와 성장 흐름을 한눈에 보여 지역 학생뿐 아니라 학부모들에게도 유익한 행사로 기대된다. 지난해 17개 분야 17개 경진대회 29개 교육 체험 프로그램에서 올해는 18개 분야 21개 경진대회 60개 프로그램으로 대폭 확대됐다.

 

경진대회에는 연중 예선을 거친 1000여 명의 본선 진출자가 참여해 벡스코 현장에서 분야별 최우수상을 놓고 실력을 겨룬다. 자율주행 분야 오토레이스 2025와 오토핵 2025, 데이터 보안 분야의 해킹 공격 방어 대회 등 다양한 첨단분야 경연이 시민들에게 색다른 볼거리를 제공할 전망이다. 이와 함께 반도체 회로 제작, 로봇 제작, 인공지능 메타버스 체험, 방탈출 체험 등 다양한 참여형 콘텐츠도 마련돼 첨단기술의 발전을 직접 체험할 수 있다.

 

부산시는 이번 행사를 계기로 지산학협력 선도 도시로서의 성과와 부산의 매력을 널리 알릴 계획이다. 미래를 디자인하는 부산을 주제로 정책홍보관을 운영하며 민선8기 시정성과, 부산형 산학협력 성과, 첨단 인재양성 우수사례 등을 시민들과 공유한다.

 

또한 부산 생활 유형 테스트를 통해 방문객들이 자연스럽게 부산의 관광지, 문화자원, 정주 환경 등 도시 매력을 체험할 수 있도록 구성했으며 시 공식 캐릭터 부기도 참여해 친근한 도시 이미지를 홍보할 예정이다.

한편 첨단분야 혁신융합대학 사업은 인공지능, 반도체, 지능형 로봇 등 첨단산업 분야의 미래 인재를 국가 차원에서 양성하기 위해 추진되는 사업이다. 참여 대학들은 공동 교육과정을 개발하고 학생들은 전공과 관계없이 원하는 교과목을 자유롭게 수강할 수 있어 문턱 없는 고품질 교육으로 높은 호응을 얻고 있다.

 

2021년 8개 분야 46개 대학으로 출범한 이 사업은 올해 18개 분야 67개 대학으로 확대됐으며 부산지역 대학은 이차전지 등 4개 분야에 참여하고 있다.

 

김귀옥 부산시 청년산학국장은 이번 행사는 국내 주요 대학의 첨단기술 교육의 현재와 미래를 가까이에서 체험할 기회이자 부산의 첨단산업 생태계와 산학협력 성과를 한눈에 볼 수 있는 자리라며 지역 학생들이 관심 분야를 직접 경험하고 혁신의 주역으로 성장하는 계기가 되길 바란다고 말했다. 많은 시민의 참여를 당부했다.

Busan — The second CO SHOW of the Innovative Convergence University Program, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, opened on the 26th and will run through the 29th at Exhibition Hall 1 of BEXCO. This year’s event, held in Busan for the first time, brings together 67 universities and serves as the nation’s largest convergence education festival showcasing the outcomes of the government’s Convergence and Open Sharing System, or COSS, initiative.

 

CO SHOW has established itself as a flagship event of the COSS program, which promotes shared and open education models among universities to foster talent in advanced industries and present future directions for higher education. The Ministry of Education hosts the event, while the National Research Foundation and the COSS University Consortium jointly oversee its organization.

 

This year’s CO SHOW features 21 competitions across 18 advanced fields, along with 60 educational and hands-on experience programs. The event highlights the growth of advanced technologies and the evolving landscape of university education, offering valuable experiences for students as well as parents. Compared with last year’s 17 competitions and 29 programs, the scale has significantly expanded.

 

More than 1,000 finalists who passed preliminary rounds held throughout the year will compete on-site at BEXCO for top honors in each category. Competitions such as AutoRace 2025 and AutoHack 2025 in autonomous driving, as well as cyber defense contests in data security, are expected to draw public interest with their creativity and advanced technical challenges. Visitors can also explore a variety of interactive programs, including semiconductor circuit fabrication, robot building, AI metaverse experiences, and escape-room missions, allowing them to experience the excitement and progress of cutting-edge technology firsthand.

 

The city of Busan plans to use the event to highlight its strengths as a leading hub for industry-academia collaboration. A policy promotion booth themed “Designing the Future, Busan” will showcase key achievements of the current city administration, success stories of Busan-style industry-academia cooperation, and best practices in advanced workforce development. A lifestyle-type quiz introducing Busan’s attractions, culture, and living environment will also be offered to visiting participants, while the city’s official character Bugi will engage visitors to promote Busan’s friendly image.

 

The COSS initiative aims to develop future talent in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, intelligent robotics, and other advanced fields at the national level. Participating universities jointly create curricula, and students can take courses across majors, increasing accessibility to high-quality education. Launched in 2021 with 46 universities across eight fields, the program has expanded to 67 universities in 18 fields this year, with universities in Busan participating in four areas including secondary batteries.

 

Kim Gui-ok, Director General of Busan’s Youth and Industry-Academia Cooperation Bureau, said the event offers a rare opportunity to explore the present and future of advanced technology education at major Korean universities, while providing a comprehensive look at Busan’s innovation ecosystem. She expressed hope that local students will gain firsthand experience in their fields of interest and be inspired to become future innovators, encouraging broad public participation in the event.
