[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 엘에스일렉트릭㈜이 초고압 변압기 생산 확대를 위한 부산사업장 제2생산동 준공식을 열고 글로벌 전력기기 생산 거점으로의 본격 도약을 알렸다.  

4일 오전 10시 30분 부산 강서구 화전동 LS일렉트릭㈜ 부산사업장에서 열린 준공식에는 박형준 부산시장, 구자은 LS그룹 회장, 구자균 LS일렉트릭㈜ 회장을 비롯해 관계자 200여 명이 참석했다. 행사는 개회식과 환영사·축사, 감사패 수여식, 준공 세리머니 순으로 진행됐다.  

이번에 완공된 제2생산동은 급증하는 글로벌 전력기기 수요에 대응하기 위해 1,008억 원을 투입해 건립됐다. 준공 후 부산사업장에는 약 750명이 근무하며, 연간 6천억 원 규모의 초고압 변압기를 생산할 예정이다. 이 과정에서 신규 고용 330여 명이 이뤄졌다.  

시는 원활한 투자 추진을 위해 ‘전담공무원제’를 운영하며 인허가와 기업 애로사항 해결 등을 밀착 지원했다. 박형준 시장도 올해 초 현장을 방문해 완충녹지 점용 문제 해결에 직접 나선 바 있다. 엘에스일렉트릭은 이에 대한 감사의 의미로 부산시에 감사패를 전달했다.  

구자균 LS일렉트릭 회장은 “글로벌 전력산업 경쟁력 강화를 위해 지난해 과감하게 1,008억 원을 투자해 부산 2생산동을 증설했다”며 “2010년 이후 총 4,200억 원 이상을 투입한 부산사업장이 K-전력산업의 전진기지로 자리 잡게 돼 뜻깊다”고 말했다.

박형준 시장은 “연초에 기업 애로를 청취했던 현장이 성공적으로 준공돼 매우 의미가 크다”며 “부산경제의 중요한 축인 LS일렉트릭 부산사업장이 글로벌 초고압 변압기 생산 거점으로 성장하도록 끝까지 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

LS Electric Co. has completed construction of its second production building at the Busan plant, marking a key milestone in expanding production capacity for ultra-high-voltage transformers to meet surging global demand.  

The completion ceremony was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at LS Electric’s Busan facility in Hwamyeong-dong, Gangseo District, with about 200 attendees including Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon, LS Group Chairman Koo Ja-eun, LS Electric Chairman Koo Ja-kyun, and other government and business leaders. The event featured speeches, an appreciation plaque presentation, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.  

Built with an investment of 108 billion won, the new building will employ about 750 people and produce ultra-high-voltage transformers valued at roughly 600 billion won annually. The expansion is also expected to create over 330 new jobs.  

To support the project, the city appointed dedicated officials to assist with administrative processes such as construction permits and corporate requests. Mayor Park visited the site in January to address land-use concerns, and LS Electric expressed appreciation by presenting a plaque to the city during the ceremony.  

Chairman Koo said the company’s investment demonstrates LS Electric’s commitment to securing leadership in the global power industry. “It’s meaningful to see this expansion completed at the Busan plant, where we’ve invested more than 420 billion won since 2010,” he said. “We will continue to cooperate with the local economy and contribute to the growth of Korea’s next-generation power industry.”  

Mayor Park said it was gratifying to see the project completed successfully after his earlier visit to resolve business challenges. “The Busan plant’s second production building will serve as a stable base for global high-voltage transformer production, and the city will continue to support LS Electric’s growth through active deregulation and administrative assistance,” he said.
