[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 기장군은 지난 10일 서울 중구 은행회관에서 열린 성평등가족부 주관 ‘2025년 청소년정책 우수지자체 정부포상’에서 우수 지자체로 선정돼 대통령 표창을 수상했다.  

성평등가족부는 전국 17개 시·도와 228개 시·군·구를 대상으로 청소년정책 전반에 대한 평가를 실시해 청소년정책 기반 강화에 우수한 성과를 보인 지자체를 선정했다.  

기장군은 지역 청소년을 위한 맞춤형 정책 추진 성과를 인정받아 가장 높은 훈격인 대통령 표창을 받았다. 특히 청소년 주도의 ‘달밤달초 청소년어울마당’ 운영, 청소년참여예산제 활성화, 청소년 예술단체 지원 등 청소년의 자율성과 문화권을 확대하는 정책이 높은 평가를 받았다.  

또한 청소년동아리 활성화, 학교밖청소년 급식지원, 입학축하금 지원 등 복지 사각지대 해소를 위한 노력이 우수 사례로 꼽혔다. 아울러 3개의 청소년수련시설 운영, 내년 청소년센터 개관, 유스호스텔 조성 추진 등 청소년 인프라 확충을 위한 지속적인 노력도 긍정적인 평가를 얻었다.  

정종복 기장군수는 “기장군의 청소년정책은 청소년을 보호의 대상이 아니라 지역 변화를 이끄는 주체로 바라보는 데 초점이 있다”며 “앞으로도 참여·보호·성장의 균형을 이루는 정책을 추진해 청소년이 건강하게 성장할 수 있는 환경을 만들어 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Gijang County (Mayor Jeong Jong-bok) announced that it was awarded the **Presidential Citation** as an outstanding local government at the *2025 Excellent Youth Policy Awards* hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family on December 10 at the Bank Hall in Seoul.  

The ministry evaluated 17 metropolitan governments and 228 local governments nationwide on their overall youth policies and inter-governmental cooperation. Gijang County was recognized for its notable achievements in strengthening the foundation of youth policy.  

The county earned high praise for its youth-led initiatives, including the *Dalbam Dalcho Youth Festival*, *Participatory Youth Budget System*, and support programs for various youth art groups that enhance creativity and cultural participation.  

Gijang was also noted for inclusive welfare programs such as *youth club promotion*, *meal support for out-of-school youths*, and *admission grants*, aimed at reducing welfare blind spots and ensuring that no youth is left behind.  

In addition, the county’s continuous investment in youth infrastructure—such as operating three youth training centers, planning a new youth center in 2026, and promoting the establishment of a youth hostel—contributed to this achievement.  

Mayor Jeong stated, “Our youth policy focuses on empowering young people as the driving force of community change rather than viewing them merely as recipients of protection. We will continue to strengthen participation, protection, and growth to build an environment where every youth can thrive.”
