[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 국토교통부 ‘2025년 하반기 도시재생사업 공모’에서 신청한 4개 지역이 모두 선정되며 국비 400억 원을 확보했다.

중구·동구·동래구·금정구의 고도심과 노후 주거지가 대상이다. 시는 2026년부터 5년간 총사업비 947억 원을 투입해 생활 기반시설 확충과 주거·상권·관광 활성화를 본격 추진한다.

■ 전면 선정 성과… 2026년부터 5년간 947억 투입

부산시는 국토교통부 도시재생사업 공모에서 ▲중구 광복·부평동 ▲동구 수정2동 ▲동래구 수민·복산동 ▲금정구 부곡3동 등 4곳이 모두 선정돼 국비 400억 원을 확보했다고 밝혔다. 정부예산 반영에 따라 시는 국토부와 협의를 거쳐 내년부터 활성화 계획 수립에 착수한다.

■ 지역별 맞춤형 재생… 문화·주거·관광·정주환경 강화

선정 지역은 각 동네의 특성과 수요를 반영한 주제로 재생을 추진한다. ▲중구 광복·부평동 ‘지하의 재발견, 예술쉼터 프로젝트’- 국제지하도상가 내 부족한 화장실과 휴식 공간을 확충하고, 공연·전시 등 문화 콘텐츠를 도입해 도심 상권과 보행 동선을 활성화한다. 

▲동구 수정2동 ‘수정동의 빛나는 24시간’- 빈집 100% 정비와 임대주택 공급, 집수리 확대를 통해 주거 환경을 개선하고 생활 SOC를 확충해 주민 삶의 질을 높인다. 

▲동래구 수민·복산동 ‘빅히스토리 타운으로 도약하는 부산의 본가(本家)-  전통시장 환경 개선과 편의시설 확충, 한옥마을·역사문화 탐방로 정비로 관광도시 경쟁력을 강화한다.

▲금정구 부곡3동 ‘20·50플러스 웰니스타운 기찰- 주민 수요 맞춤형 편의시설 공급, 주차장과 가로환경 개선으로 정주여건을 높이고 신규 주택 정비를 유도한다.

올해 공모는 지침 개편으로 준비 난도가 높았지만, 시는 ‘뉴빌리지’ 사업 경험을 토대로 사전 심사와 시의회 보고를 신속히 진행했다. 사업계획 단계부터 타당성·실현 가능성·사업 효과에 대한 컨설팅을 실시하고, 국토부 현장실사와 최종 평가에 적극 대응해 성과를 이끌어냈다.

박형준 부산시장은 “도심 주거지역의 골목상권과 생활환경에 활력을 불어넣을 기반을 마련했다”며 “도로, 주차장, 공원 등 시민이 체감하는 생활 기반시설을 확충해 쾌적하고 살기 좋은 도시를 만들어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

[Here’s an English news version of the article] Busan Joint Fish Market Breaks Ground on Modernization Project, Marking a New Era for the City’s Seafood Industry

The city of Busan has officially launched the long-awaited modernization of the Busan Joint Fish Market, setting a new course for the future of the local seafood distribution industry.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place at 2 p.m. on December 19 at the market site in Nambumin-dong, Seo-gu, signaling the start of a large-scale project aimed at revitalizing the city’s seafood distribution infrastructure.

First opened in 1973, the Busan Joint Fish Market has served as the nation’s largest wholesale market for fresh fish and a major hub for Korea’s seafood trade for over half a century. However, the aging facilities, unsanitary open-auction structure, and increasing demand for advanced refrigeration management amid climate change have long underscored the need for modernization.

The modernization project will invest a total of 242.2 billion won—comprising 165.5 billion won in national funds, 50.9 billion won from the city, and 25.8 billion won in private contributions—to build a state-of-the-art facility covering 61,971 square meters. The new market complex will span one basement level and five above-ground floors, featuring a closed-type refrigerated auction facility and automated logistics systems, including fish-sorting machines.

Construction will proceed over a 47-month period in three phases, scheduled around the market’s off-season to minimize disruption to trading operations. Upon completion, the facility is expected to significantly enhance the freshness, safety, and efficiency of seafood distribution, while also providing new amenities such as a viewing lounge and an oceanfront promenade for visitors.

Around 300 guests attended the ceremony, including Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon, Choi Hyun-ho, Director General of Fisheries Policy at the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Jung Yeon-song, CEO of the Busan Joint Fish Market, local lawmakers, the Seo-gu district mayor, city and district council members, the head of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, and representatives from related organizations and the local community.

The event featured congratulatory speeches, commemorative remarks, and a ceremonial button-press to mark the official start of construction.

Mayor Park described the groundbreaking as “a historic moment opening the future of Busan’s fisheries industry,” adding, “The city will take the lead to make Busan not only Korea’s central hub for seafood distribution but also a global seafood logistics center trusted by citizens and consumers alike.”
