도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 3일(현지시간) 베네수엘라에 새 정부가 들어설 때까지 베네수엘라 정부 운영에 개입할 것이라고 밝혔다. 

 

영국 '로이터 통신'에 따르면 트럼프 대통령은 이날 오전 미 플로리다주 마러라고 자택에서 열린 베네수엘라 니콜라스 마두로 대통령 부부 체포 관련 대국민 기자 회견에서 "안전하고 적절한 정권 이양이 이뤄질 때까지 이 나라(베네수엘라)를 운영할 것”이라며 “다른 누군가가 정권을 차지해 지난 오랜 기간 겪었던 것과 같은 상황이 재현되는 걸 원치 않는다”고 밝혔다.

 

그러면서 "베네수엘라 국민을 위한 평화·자유·정의를 원한다”며 “베네수엘라 국민 이익을 고려 않는 누군가가 베네수엘라를 장악할 위험을 감수치 않을 것”이라고 했다.

 

또 "미국의 베네수엘라 임시 관리를 위해 미 대형 석유기업들을 투입하겠다"면서도 "베네수엘라산 원유에 대한 전면 금수 조치는 여전히 유효하며 미군 역시 경계 태세를 유지할 것"이라고 밝혔다.

 

이어 “세계 최대 규모 미 석유기업들이 베네수엘라에 들어가 수십억불을 투자해 심각히 훼손된 석유 인프라를 복구하고 국가 수익을 창출케 될 것”이라며 "주요 미 고위 당국자들로 구성된 그룹을 통해 운영할 것”이라고 전했다.
