[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산디자인진흥원이 4년간 추진한 산업혁신기반 구축 사업을 마무리하고, AI와 디지털 기술을 기반으로 한 차세대 디자인산업 혁신 거점으로 새롭게 출범했다.

디지털 인프라 완성… 지역 디자인 경쟁력 향상 기대

12일 부산디자인진흥원에 따르면, 진흥원은 지난 4년간 부산시와 고용노동부 등의 지원을 받아 산업혁신기반 및 AI 디지털 디자인 플랫폼을 구축했다. 이를 통해 디자인 교육에서 시제품 제작, AI 활용 디자인 개발까지 이어지는 원스톱 지원체계를 완성했다.

진흥원 관계자는 “단순한 공간 리모델링이 아니라 지역 산업 구조 전환을 겨냥한 전략적 변화”라며 “지역 기업들이 디자인 역량을 강화하는 실질적 거점이 될 것”이라고 설명했다.

새 단장을 마친 진흥원 내부는 층별로 기능이 세분화됐다. 2층은 디지털 디자인 교육을 위한 전문 교육장으로, 3층에는 최신 디자인 트렌드를 전시하는 ‘트렌드 라이프스타일 룸’과 소재·색상 등을 직접 체험하는 ‘CMF 쇼룸’이 마련됐다. 4층은 3D 프린터, 레이저 커팅기 등을 갖춘 엔지니어링 공간으로, ‘아이데이션 & 크리에이티브 존’에서는 다양한 전문가들이 함께 협업할 수 있다.

AI 디자인 파크 조성… 부산형 첨단 디자인 산업 드라이브

진흥원은 특히 ‘K-하이테크 플랫폼’ 사업을 통해 ‘AI 디자인 파크(AI Design Park)’를 구축, 디지털 전환 시대에 발맞춘 첨단 디자인 허브로 발돋움하고 있다. 이곳에서는 인공지능을 활용한 디자인 시뮬레이션과 데이터 분석 교육 등 실질적인 기업 지원 프로그램이 운영된다.

강필현 부산디자인진흥원장은 “AI 기술과 디지털 디자인 플랫폼을 기반으로 부산이 세계적인 디자인 도시로 도약할 기반을 마련했다”며 “지역 디자이너와 기업이 글로벌 시장에서 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.

입주 기업 90%가 디자인 분야… ‘산업 시너지’ 가시화

현재 부산디자인진흥원에 입주한 기업의 약 90%가 디자인 관련 기업으로, 공간을 공유하며 프로젝트 협력과 자료 교류가 활발하다. 진흥원은 향후 입주 기업 간 협업을 통해 부산형 디자인산업의 경쟁력을 높이고, AI 융합형 비즈니스 생태계 조성에 속도를 낼 방침이다.

Four-year infrastructure project complete – accelerating digital transformation of regional design industry

Busan Design Promotion Agency (BDPA) has completed a four-year initiative to establish an advanced industrial innovation base and AI-integrated digital design platform, marking its transition into a new hub for next-generation design industry innovation.

Digital Infrastructure Completed — Boosting Regional Competitiveness

According to BDPA President Kang Pil-hyun on January 12, the agency finalized the city- and ministry-funded project supported by Busan Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The completed system now offers an integrated support platform covering design education, prototype production, AI-based creation, and commercialization.

“This transformation is more than just a facility upgrade — it’s a strategic shift toward building a foundation for industrial innovation,” said a BDPA official. “Our goal is to become a practical base where local firms strengthen their design capabilities.”

Each floor of the revamped building serves a specialized role:  

The second floor is dedicated to digital design training. The third floor features a *Trend Lifestyle Room* for global design insights and a *CMF (Color, Material, Finish) Showroom* for material and texture exploration. On the fourth floor, engineering tools such as 3D printers and laser cutters are available, alongside an *Ideation & Creative Zone* to support collaborative design thinking.

AI Design Park: Leading the Digital Convergence Era

A major highlight of the renewal is the *AI Design Park*, established under the 'K-Hightech Platform Project'. The facility provides AI training, digital design experimentation, and data-driven concept development opportunities, serving as a key driver for Busan’s transition into an AI-powered creative economy.

“The AI and digital design platforms we’ve built over the past four years will be a driving force in Busan’s rise as a world-class design city,” said BDPA President Kang. “We’ll continue to foster an ecosystem where designers and companies can harness technology and compete globally.”

90% of Tenants in the Design Sector — Fostering Industry Synergy

Currently, about 90 percent of the tenants at BDPA are design-related companies, enabling close collaboration and synergy. The agency plans to capitalize on this network to build a sustainable business ecosystem that merges AI with design innovation and establishes Busan as a leading design hub in Asia.

A local design industry insider noted that “collaboration between companies has become much easier since BDPA upgraded its facilities,” adding that “the initiative signals a real turning point for Busan as a competitive design city.”
