[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 설 명절을 앞두고 식품 안전사고를 예방하기 위해 명절 성수식품과 축산물을 대상으로 특별 단속에 나선다. 시는 불법·비위생 행위에 대해 형사입건 등 강력 대응한다는 방침이다.

부산시는 오는 19일부터 2월 13일까지 4주간 '설 명절 먹거리 안전 특별 기획수사'를 실시한다고 밝혔다. 이번 수사는 명절 기간 소비가 급증하는 식품의 제조와 유통 전 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 불법 행위를 차단하고, 시민이 안심하고 식품을 소비할 수 있는 환경을 조성하기 위해 마련됐다.

점검 대상은 명절에 수요가 집중되는 제수용 즉석섭취식품과 편의식품, 참기름, 건강식품 등을 제조·판매하는 업소와 한우, LA갈비 등 축산물 가공·판매업소다. 특히 과거 위반 이력이 있거나 위생 상태가 불량하다고 의심되는 업소, 원산지 표시나 식품 표시·광고와 관련해 민원이나 제보가 접수된 업소를 중심으로 선별 점검이 이뤄진다.

주요 단속 내용은 원산지 거짓·혼동 표시, 식품 취급 기준 및 규격 위반, 질병 예방이나 치료 효능이 있는 것으로 오인될 우려가 있는 표시·광고 행위, 무표시 또는 소비기한이 지난 제품을 원재료로 사용하는 행위 등이다. 부산시는 현장 점검과 함께 전문기관 검사를 병행해 식품 안전 관리를 강화할 계획이다.

위법 사항이 적발될 경우 관련 법령에 따라 엄정한 처벌이 뒤따른다. 원산지 거짓·혼동 표시는 농수산물의 원산지 표시 등에 관한 법률에 따라 7년 이하 징역 또는 1억 원 이하 벌금이 부과될 수 있다. 식품 취급 기준 및 규격 위반은 식품위생법에 따라 5년 이하 징역 또는 5천만 원 이하 벌금, 질병 예방·치료 효능을 부당하게 표시·광고한 경우에는 식품 등의 표시·광고에 관한 법률에 따라 10년 이하 징역 또는 1억 원 이하 벌금이 적용된다.

부산시 특별사법경찰과는 시민 제보도 적극 접수한다. 식품 관련 불법 행위는 부산시 식품수사팀(051-888-3091, 3096)으로 신고하면 된다.

박형준 시장은 “설 명절을 맞아 시민들이 안심하고 식품을 소비할 수 있도록 식품 안전 확보에 총력을 기울이겠다”며 “명절 등 특정 시기에 반복되는 불법 식품 범죄를 근절하기 위해 지속적인 현장 점검과 단속을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

The City of Busan will carry out a special crackdown on seasonal food products and livestock ahead of the Lunar New Year to prevent food safety incidents. The city plans to respond firmly to illegal and unsanitary practices, including criminal charges.

Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon announced that the city will conduct a four-week “Special Planned Investigation on Food Safety for the Lunar New Year Holiday” from January 19 to February 13. The investigation is designed to block illegal activities that may occur throughout the manufacturing and distribution process of foods with sharply increased consumption during the holiday season, and to create an environment in which citizens can consume food with confidence.

Inspection targets include businesses that manufacture and sell ceremonial ready-to-eat foods, convenience foods, sesame oil, and health foods, as well as livestock processing and sales outlets handling products such as Korean beef and LA galbi. Inspections will focus in particular on businesses with a history of violations, those suspected of poor hygiene conditions, and those that have received complaints or tips related to country-of-origin labeling or food labeling and advertising.

Key inspection items include false or misleading country-of-origin labeling, violations of food handling standards and specifications, labeling or advertising that may mislead consumers into believing products have disease prevention or treatment effects, and the use of unlabeled or expired products as raw ingredients. Busan plans to strengthen food safety management by conducting on-site inspections in parallel with testing by specialized institutions.

If violations are detected, strict penalties will be imposed in accordance with relevant laws. False or misleading country-of-origin labeling may result in up to seven years of imprisonment or a fine of up to 100 million won under the Act on Origin Labeling of Agricultural and Fishery Products. Violations of food handling standards and specifications may be punished by up to five years of imprisonment or a fine of up to 50 million won under the Food Sanitation Act. Improper labeling or advertising claiming disease prevention or treatment effects may lead to up to ten years of imprisonment or a fine of up to 100 million won under the Act on Labeling and Advertising of Foods.

Busan’s Special Judicial Police will also actively accept reports from citizens. Reports of illegal food-related activities can be made to the Busan Food Investigation Team at 051-888-3091 or 051-888-3096.

Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, “Ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, we will devote all our efforts to ensuring food safety so that citizens can consume food with peace of mind,” adding, “We will continue on-site inspections and crackdowns to eradicate illegal food crimes that repeatedly occur during specific seasons such as major holidays.”
